The Supervising Producer, Digital Initiatives manages a robust portfolio of high-quality and diverse digital series and short form programs, with rapid development and production cycles, timely and efficient delivery to ITVS, and seamless distribution via public media's digital platforms, such as PBS.org, PBS Digital Studios, and other key partners including journalism outlets. The Supervising Producer works as a key liaison between independent producers and other ITVS and public media staff, delivering top quality content with the primary goals of fulfilling ITVS's ever-evolving digital content strategy.
The position serves as an integral member of the Production and Programming department. As an organization ambassador, the position must act as a role model, developing workflows and maintaining high standards for series projects and the integrity of our data and project management systems. The Supervising Producer, Digital is also responsible for cultivating and nurturing relationships with content makers, distribution partners, and public media representatives.
Content Management
•Serve as the primary contact for production management and delivery of a portfolio of original high-quality and diverse digital docu-series programs and reversioned short form digital programs funded through various ITVS funding initiatives, adhering to PBS editorial standards
•Ensure successful timely contracting and delivery within budget for all projects while maintaining positive and productive relationships with independent producers and co-producing partners
•As a member of the Supervising Producer team, actively participate in building and aligning ITVS production (digital and broadcast) policies and practices.
•Set and manage production schedules in coordination with producers, distributors, and other ITVS departments
•Provide story development consultation and detailed notes for all greenlit digital series projects, as well as review proposals for prospective digital projects
•Provide education and mentorship to funded producers (as appropriate) regarding ITVS / public media financial reporting and editorial and technical standards
•Evaluate and provide feedback on program deliverables and maintain standards for quality
•Collect, analyze, and report data related to individual programs and overall portfolio and provide regular reports for the department and content strategy team
•Support the Digital team in providing oversight to other team members to ensure consistent administration of the department including: overseeing database and DAM entry, media and tape tracking, new staff orientation, documenting work processes and policies.
•In consultation with supervisor, travel to meet with funded producers and their staff to support/troubleshoot successful completion and delivery of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•5-7 years of experience either as a Producer of digital series projects, preferably in a television network, studio, or journalism environment.
•Demonstrated expertise in episodic storytelling and production.
•Significant experience with docu-series is a plus.
•Proven experience in supervising delivery of programs for online distribution.
•B.A. in Film/Television, Broadcast Journalism, or a related field
•Prior experience evaluating editorial works in progress, and providing constructive feedback on preliminary cuts of film/tv projects.
•Deep familiarity with all aspects of film production and post, including technical processes and FCC broadcast standards.
•Prior experience preparing and evaluating budgets, cost reports, and financial records for low-budget or independently produced productions.
•Understanding of and experience working with rights licensing agreements for film and television, knowledge of insurance and business requirements for companies engaging in film/television work, and best business practices for these types of companies.
•Experience negotiating contracts in a television, film and/or media environment
•Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from a wide variety of social and economic backgrounds, as well as the ability to constructively manage conflict in a business setting are musts.
