Position Summary:
Jesse Collins Entertainment (JCE) is seeking a Director, Development - Specials to take a hands-on role in developing, packaging, and selling premium specials and tentpole event programming. This role is responsible for execution-focused development, ensuring that pitch materials are compelling and market-ready.
The ideal candidate will have strong creative instincts and the ability to develop and execute projects independently. As the primary development support to the SVP, Specials, this position requires someone who is a skilled writer, visual storyteller, and pitch creator who can handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
Development & Execution
• Research and develop new specials and event programming concepts.
• Create and design pitch materials, including decks, one-sheets, treatments, and sizzle reels, ensuring high-quality presentations.
• Take ownership of the development pipeline, managing multiple projects from concept to pitch.
• Brainstorm and refine creative approaches for projects, tailoring pitches for networks and streamers.
Industry & Network Support
• Assist in pitch preparation, ensuring materials are polished and client-ready.
• Maintain relationships with network executives, producers, and agents, supporting pitch efforts.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth communication across departments.
Creative Execution
• Independently build pitch decks with strong storytelling, compelling visuals, and clear formatting.
• Write treatments and creative materials that align with JCE's brand and network needs.
• Support sizzle reel creation, working with editors or cutting materials when necessary.
Business & Strategy Alignment
• Work closely with the SVP, Specials to maintain a development pipeline for JCE's specials division.
• Identify creative market trends that align with JCE's vision and opportunities.
• Support internal tracking of development budgets, deal negotiations, and network responses.
Qualifications & Experience:
• 5-7 years of experience in television development, event programming, or entertainment production.
• Proven track record of creating and pitching specials (e.g., award shows, tributes, cultural programming, tentpole events).
• Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to develop and present pitches effectively.
• Proficiency in Keynote, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite for deck creation.
• Basic video editing skills (i.e., Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) to assist in crafting sizzle reels.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects efficiently.
