Job Summary:
The Digital Content Manager is responsible for overseeing FOX5SanDiego.com and KUSI.com, managing a web team, and driving growth in digital audience engagement. The role involves strategizing content packaging, distribution, and performance using data to increase video views, page views, and users across digital platforms.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations of FOX5SanDiego.com and KUSI.com
• Manage, train, and coach a team of digital producers and reporters
• Communicate digital goals and performance data to the team and regional leads
• Establish clear expectations and accountability for digital KPIs, including pageviews and session metrics
• Evaluate traffic trends to make daily and long-term content decisions
• Assign and edit digital content, including stories, photos, videos, and graphics
• Build relationships within the newsroom to ensure breaking news and enterprise content are prioritized
• Supervise staff producing news for digital platforms
• Provide journalistic guidance for digital content and distribution
• Adjust shifts when necessary to coach team members or produce content
• Collaborate with regional digital leads to evaluate and meet weekly goals
Qualifications:
• Naturally curious with a strong understanding of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards
• Expertise in SEO best practices and AP Style
• Proficient in Adobe Analytics and Chartbeat
• Excellent communication skills to navigate the influence of digital in all departments
• Self-motivated, competitive, and able to work independently under pressure
• Knowledge of regional and statewide public affairs issues
• Ability to learn new technology quickly in a fast-evolving industry
• Experience in building digital news teams and operations is a plus
Education and Experience:
• 3 years of experience in an online operation with a strong news or editorial focus
• B.A. in Journalism, Mass Communications, Marketing, or equivalent experience
Salary:
Starting at $80,000 USD, commensurate with experience.
