Summary of Position
The Audio Video Technician (also known as an AV Tech) role involves the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio and visual equipment used in various events, presentations, and conference rooms. The primary role is to ensure the seamless integration of audio and visual elements to create an immersive and engaging experience for the audience.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Setup and Operation:
- Install, configure, and operate audio and visual equipment such as projectors, sound systems, microphones, mixers, and Cisco/Crestron conference room equipment.
- Ensure proper cabling, connections, and signal flow for optimal performance.
- Collaborate with event organizers, internal staff, and external guests to meet technical requirements.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Regularly inspect and maintain AV equipment to ensure functionality.
- Troubleshoot technical issues promptly during live events or rehearsals.
- Calibrate and fine-tune audio and visual systems for optimal sound and image quality.
- Event Support:
- Provide technical support during live events, conferences, and other entertainment activities.
- Record and manipulate recordings for the Executive Team as required.
- Attend scheduled pre-meeting prep meetings for larger conference rooms/meetings to demo and test conference room equipment.
- Provide support for digital signage throughout the building, including loading content and troubleshooting signage outages.
- Desktop Support / Helpdesk:
- Provide Level-1 Desktop Support/Helpdesk support to end-users by diagnosing reported issues with user accounts, passwords, wi-fi, and ethernet connections, and application support.
- Provide end-user computer and AV equipment support for Business Applications, including Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Zoom.
- Escalate unresolvable desktop support tickets to Level-2 Helpdesk/Desktop Support as needed.
- Track incidents and requests in the ServiceNow ticketing platform.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of AV equipment, including tracking usage, repairs, and replacements.
- Request supplies and replacement parts orders as necessary.
- End-User Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with end-users, vendors, and team members.
- Understand client requirements and tailor AV solutions accordingly.
- Document conference room processes and create end-user signage for conference room’s basic functions and operations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in operating and maintaining audio and visual equipment, including video conference equipment, Cisco devices, and Microsoft Teams meetings. Familiarity with Crestron hardware and digital signage platforms.
- Desktop Support / Helpdesk Knowledge: 2 years of experience in performing Level-1 Helpdesk support for both Windows and Mac in an enterprise environment.
