Summary of Position
The Sr. Manager, Payroll will work within a multidisciplinary team to oversee and manage all payroll functions of the organization, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Responsibilities
• Manage multi-state and international payroll compensation and tax compliance
• Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits and tax systems and procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
• Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
• Manage preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.), as applicable
• Audit W-4s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
• Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Liaison with Tax and Finance & Accounting
Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required. or equivalent experience
• 7 years multi-state payroll experience
• Extensive knowledge of ADP
• Expert in Excel
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Extensive knowledge of CA (and out-of-state) payroll principles, practices, regulations, and procedures.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, legislation, and guidelines, including, but not limited to: writs of garnishment, child support, levies, subpoenas, etc.
• Experience creating and implementing payroll systems and process
• Strong sense of urgency to meet strict deadlines
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels
• Must be highly organized

• Experience with Workday
• Experience with additional Human Resources functions, i.e., Benefits, Compensation, HRIS, Leave of Absence
