Job Title: Head Video Coordinator
Department: Basketball Ops
Reports to: Head Coach, Los Angeles Lakers
Manages: Assistant Video Coordinators (2), Coaching Interns (4)
Position Summary: The primary responsibility of the Head Video Coordinator is to handle all of the film for the Los Angeles Lakers team, fulfilling requests from the coaching staff and the General Manager. This position manages the video department to ensure coaching and front office staff is fully supported. Additionally, the Head Video Coordinator completes a variety of other special projects and assignments, as needed by the team.
Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities):
Video
• Provide coaching staff with in-game video behind the bench
• Edit scouting/game film for coaches and supply them with needed material in advance
• Live capture and breakdown of all home games
• Film team practices and edit film for coaches for breakdown and study
• Provide post-game edits, half-time edits, and teaching film
• Upload/download all game film on synergy/NBA website/hoop1
• Provide game film to NBA league game officials/opposing team per NBA policy
• Setup/breakdown of video equipment after each practice
On-Court
• Assist with on-court player development, draft workouts
• Ensure all court needs are met (rebounders, balls, cones, towels, whistles, etc.)
Other duties and special projects, as assigned by coaching staff and team management
Education
(Required/ Preferred): Bachelor's degree (required)
Previous experience: A minimum of three (3) years of work experience with a major college (Division 1A or 1B) or semi-professional basketball team
Technology Capabilities:
• Knowledge of Sportscode
• Understanding of KeeMotion
• Demonstrated ability to work with both Apple and PC systems
• Knowledge of Fastdraw/ Fastscout
• Ability to operate Synergy
• Exceptional computer skills
• Highly proficient in film editing
• Facebook Live / Youtube (mp4 conversion)
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
• Teamwork – must be able to work well with others and manage people
• Ability to make quality decisions and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of the game of basketball (including scouting and teamplay)
• Great multi-tasker and highly organized
• Be available to coaching staff or GM and willing to help with any special projects and assignments
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift a min of 50lbs., stand for long periods, and walk significant distances on game days
Location: El Segundo, all away games, and other off-site events (as needed)
Travel: All away games
Key metrics used to evaluate performance:
• Anticipate staff/player needs
• Feedback from coaching staff and General Manager
• Willingness to tackle and deliver on projects enthusiastically and with a great attitude
• Contribution to culture and work environment
• Personal conduct on & off the court
The pay range for this role is $80,000 to $110,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications
