Position Summary: The VP, Digital Marketing leads all digital efforts within the organization and sets the social media strategy. Furthermore, it is responsible for the creation of comprehension digital, social, promotional and branding campaigns across multiple mediums designed to engage fans and drive sales across ticketing, suites, and corporate partnerships. It works closely with IT to identify new technology, flagging vendors that might support the long-term digital vision. This position works closely with Broadcast and Media Relations to build the Lakers brand, and works cross-functionally to assist the comprehensive use of digital mediums by other departments.

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):
• DIGITAL MARKETING STRATEGY AND MANAGEMENT
• Manage the day to day operations of the Lakers Digital Marketing department to ensure the direction of the annual marketing campaigns, the consistent execution of brand strategy and messaging for all campaigns, promotions, and events
• Analyze and understand digital reach & engagement numbers and adjust digital marketing strategy accordingly
• Lead the process of strategic planning and development to create a compelling marketing and media plan to increase brand loyalty and ticket sales, including traditional media, print, digital, direct mail and strategic partnerships
• Develop and deliver strategic marketing plans to meet the brand and financial objectives of the Lakers
• Lead the development and management of the Lakers brand messaging and communication, while driving marketing integration to ensure consistency in messaging and overall brand experience
• Establish and manage clear processes to enable the Lakers to be efficient in executing all marketing efforts
• Drive marketing projects for other assets, including but not limited to marketing campaigns, signage, promotional materials, and facility renovations
• Develop solid working partnerships with all internal groups
• Develop and manage digital marketing budget
• Manage external creative and marketing constituents
• Interview, train, and assist new employees
• Develop strategies and systems to motivate staff and accomplish departmental goals
• Encourage a team-oriented atmosphere both within department and with other disciplines
• Control all content posted to Lakers Social Media outlets
• Proof stories, supply copy, etc.
• Work closely with General Counsel to verify that all content is in compliance with platform guidelines, league rules, sweepstakes rules, etc.
• Integrate NBA League marketing/advertising initiatives and best practices
TECH ADOPTION AND ENABLEMENT – Led by IT
• Work with IT to vet digital vendors
• Flag and discuss new technologies that will drive business results among departmentsDIGITAL MARKETING CONSULTANT ACROSS DEPARTMENTS
• Media Relations (MR):
• Work closely with MR department head to break team news on digital platforms
• Establish cohesive branding and messaging
• Corporate Partnerships (CP):
• Serve as digital elements project manager to CP department
• Brainstorm creative digital elements to add to prospective contracts
• Define the rate card value for each digital element sold
• Understand the digital elements sold in each contract
• Create an activation schedule and confirm that all digital elements are executed
• Provide CP department with sponsor analytics
• Business Analytics & Strategy
• Engage business analytics team to understand and grow all consumer data, measure marketing effectiveness, and to maximize revenue generating opportunities
• All other departments:
• Consult other departments on how to market to fans via social platforms
• Coordinate full time staff to serve other departments as the in-house digital marketing agency
• OTHER
• Design and implement other special digital marketing projects (e.g. app for kids)
• Perform other duties as assigned by the COO and upper management
**Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.
Education
(Required/ Preferred): Bachelor's degree (required) in marketing, advertising or communications (preferred). Advanced education is preferred
Previous experience:
• A minimum ten (10) years working in the digital marketing space
• A minimum of five (5) years managing a department
• Past experience in sports or entertainment (required)
Technology Capabilities:
• Code HTML/ CSS
• General understanding of website design and content management systems
• A familiarity with digital advertising on various platforms
• Deep understanding of existing and emerging social media platforms
• Adobe Creative Suite
• Ticketmaster Archtics, AEG AXS, and other related ticketing platforms
• Salesforce (or related CRM platform)
• Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Windows)
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
• A passion for basketball and the sports industry
• A proven track record of using analytics to make strategic plans and decisions
• A demonstrated ability to connect all elements of digital marketing (words, technology, visual content, analytics, etc.) and create a cohesive vision
• Experience working within the executive level of an organization; setting and managing budgets; and preparing long term and short term budget forecasting
• Ability to interface with employees at all levels within the organization, and bridge gaps between departments to create better synergies and internal buy-in
• Strong ability to understand business challenges and provide strategic guidance to non-marketing partners/stakeholders
• Strong understanding in marketing planning and execution, as well as elements involved in marketing execution: insights, strategy, media, creative and digital
• Ability to articulate and lead in a fast-paced, intense and highly-matrixed environment
• Highly organized individual who can manage planning and meeting deadline effectively
• Passionately fan-focused and able to rally disparate teams around a single vision
• Candidate should demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and an ability to manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make instant, quality decisions
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to be an effective manager
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented, logical approach to problem solving
