Marvel Comics is seeking an editor to oversee middle-grade, young adult and children's publishing programs. The Editor will develop and manage prose and graphic fiction content geared to a younger demographic including both licensed and original series.
Responsibilities:
• Pitch, develop and edit original comic book series
• Manage workflow and editorial approval of licensed partner series
• Responsible for all aspects of editorial production including line editing, art direction, copywriting, marketing & solicit text
• Acquire and develop new writing and artistic talent with middle-grade, young adult or children's book experience
• Manage budgets and production schedules. Support marketing efforts as needed
• Work with publisher and director of licensing to cultivate publishing strategy for a younger demographic
• Support larger franchise initiatives
• Represent Marvel at industry conventions and on social media as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• 3-6 years editorial experience in middle-grade or children's book publishing
• Experience managing books and series through the editorial/production process
• Strong understanding of the middle-grade, young adult and children's publishing industry
• Comic book experience a bonus
• Industry relationships with literary agents and talent preferred
• Strong understanding of the Marvel brand preferred
• Strong written and communication skills; ability to multi-task
• Excel in editing prose and comic book storytelling formats
