Position Purpose
The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking a creative and qualified individual to lead our social and digital content efforts across multiple brands, including the Memphis Grizzlies, Grind City Media and others. This position will manage a social media coordinator, with a day-to-day focus on the content creation and production for the Memphis Grizzlies and Grind City Media social media platforms with the goal of creating brand excitement, cultivating fan interaction, engagement and discussion around each brand. This position will also be responsible for the strategy, planning, development and deployment of social acquisition campaigns and will work to ensure voice alignment and standard communications practices across the Memphis Grizzlies, Grind City Media, Memphis Hustle, Grizz Gaming and FedExForum brands.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Manage and mentor the social content team, messaging / voice, planning, execution and reporting across all brands and social platforms.
• Create and manage content for non-sponsored and sponsored pages and posts, including but not limited to, social contests, live feature broadcasts, sweepstakes and promotional content across all social media platforms including, but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, Reddit, Storify, Pinterest, and Weibo.
• Work with the Partnership Marketing team to brainstorm new sponsor social media campaign ideas, implement sponsored social media campaigns based on business requirements, and provide fan feedback on performance of campaigns.
• Maintain consistent communication practices across all social media platforms and best practices established by VP of Brand, Content Marketing, Communications & Broadcast.
• Maintain and enhance brand voices for each brand across all social media platforms.
• Ensure social content team assists each other and attends & document Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis Hustle, Grizz Gaming, GCM and FedExForum events to create content for related digital platforms including covering games (home and away when applicable) and team events in the social and digital content realm.
• Serve as a secondary team photographer/videographer as necessary.
• Work with Director of Brand Marketing to ensure social content team can edit and manipulate photos/videos/graphics/etc. for use on social channels under brand guidelines along with coordinating the creation of digital graphics for social use thru the Brand Marketing team.
• Work with VP of Marketing Strategy, Sr. Director, Digital Marketing to develop digital data acquisition strategies across all social platforms.
• Assist in developing useful and consistent reporting for all social platforms including fan feedback to track effectiveness, trends and success of all social initiatives.
• Identify opportunities for emerging digital and social platforms, trends and potential new vendor relationships that can add value to social presence.
• Share community feedback, respond appropriately and identify potential issues
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Required Skills
, Experience & Abilities
• Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast, Communications, Journalism, Photography or related and appropriate majors.
• Must have at least 3-5 years' experience working in a digital media role with a brand.
• Must possess superior written and verbal skills, editorial judgment and knowledge of digital culture.
• Detail-oriented and strong organization and project management skill.
• Thorough understanding (in a business capacity) of social platforms including, but not limited. to Twitter, Facebook, Google , Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Reddit, Storify and Pinterest.
• Strong knowledge of and passion for social media and NBA basketball.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Actively follow new technology trends and apply to Grizzlies digital strategy where appropriate.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards in all work.
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.
• Must possess proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and basic video/audio editing. Final Cut preferred.
• Must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings (nights and weekends as required).
• Experience with social media aggregation platforms and analytics tracking software.
• Fluency in NBA Basketball and fan culture essential.
