Who are we hiring?
The Associate, Communications position is a key part of the MSGE PR department. This position supports the Live and Productions areas of the business – including concerts, comedy, family shows and special events, venue tours, and the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes (CS), Rockettes branding and dance education initiatives. The position works with the team to conceptualize and execute press events; independently reaches out to the press for on-site coverage; pitches features and stories; independently manages press at events throughout the year, such as concerts and family shows; and works with the department to brainstorm creative approaches to events and pitches across the business.
The Associate, Communications functions as the lead on select family shows at our portfolio of venues, including having responsibility for the creation and execution of the PR plan, overseeing the entire process from announce to show close. The Associate also works closely with the team to support the other aspects of the Live division including pitching exclusive artist content, managing trade interviews, localizing concert releases for NY and Chicago, and managing press onsite at events. For the Productions division, the Associate works closely with the lead to coordinate the logistics surrounding the Christmas Spectacular PR campaign including preparing press materials, independently pitching media in coordination with the lead, and facilitating onsite and offsite media opps, including interacting with talent. The Associate will also be responsible for supporting the team as it relates to venue tours in New York and Chicago – drafting press materials, securing coverage, and conceptualizing, executing and staffing events. The Associate is responsible for compiling and maintaining measurable metrics against PR campaigns and secured media for various projects.
The Associate, Communications helps to support Garden of Dreams Foundation (GDF) initiatives by helping lead PR efforts around fundraising and programming events, pitching in-depth stories about the Foundation's work and working with the GDF team to execute interviews and shoots.
The position ensures that all departmental functions such as invoicing, media contact lists, calendars, and concert/event announcements are sent on time and kept up to date. Position also works with the Manager to oversee the Student Associate program, including hiring, teaching and instructing the Student Associate each term.
What will you do?
• Act as the lead PR contact on one or more of the family shows that MSGE either produces exclusively or co-promotes with outside entities. Craft the local PR plan, pitch interviews, ideate, create and execute PR events, and obtain local, and potentially national, coverage for the brand in an effort to drive local ticket sales.
• Responsible for execution of internal and external day-to-day PR activities for Christmas Spectacular, including PR plan execution and press event creation. Pitch, coordinate and cover media interviews, feature stories and appearances for the Rockettes, solely interacting with media and show personnel.
• Write and distribute press releases, media alerts and artwork for various show-related events. Act as the liaison with marketing partnerships team, and potentially partner PR teams, to promote the show through coordinated sponsor-related events.
• Manage all onsite press and organizes the PR-related flow of events and concerts, including major events like awards shows, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, Jingle Ball, movie premieres and more, which may involve managing red carpet activity and facilitating interviews and photo opportunities in high stress, high profile situations.
• Draft press releases and works closely with bookings and marketing teams to announce live events across the Company's venues
• Work with GDF on initiatives, opportunities and events that utilize Christmas Spectacular, the Rockettes, live events, or family shows to bring joy to children in need and create press exposure for the Foundation; supports all communications efforts for the annual Garden of Dreams Talent Show
• Help coordinate media trainings for Rockettes and MSGE executives for interviews and panels they participate in to promote MSGE's properties, including the Christmas Spectacular, Rockettes brand and concerts/events.
• Represent MSGE PR in production/planning meetings for Productions, Live, Garden of Dreams events and others.
• Responsible for submitting invoices for MSGE PR team and ensuring timely payments to vendors.
• Responsible for compiling and maintaining measurable metrics against PR campaigns and secured media for various projects.
What do you need to succeed?
• 1-3 years PR experience preferred, including internships
• Knowledge of entertainment environment and comfortable working with talent and senior level executives
• Experience in writing press releases and pitch letters and some experience in executing PR plans
• High level of energy, commitment and creativity
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Organized and detail-oriented; ability to juggle multiple responsibilities without jeopardizing deadlines

• Occasional travel (i.e. Chicago Theatre)

Pay Range
$65,000 — $85,000 USD
Salary/Benefits
