This is a Full Time Job
The Director Accounting will be responsible for the accounting processes for the Facilities, Event Operations, and Food, Beverage & Merchandise (“F&M”) divisions, which includes the theaters and other venues. This includes responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the company’s venues and all event specific expenses. The financial responsibilities of this position include general accounting functions (book close, etc.), ensuring that the appropriate internal controls are in place, and financial analyses of results, primarily as compared to the prior year.
What will you do?
• Manage the Venues monthly book close process which includes the timely and accurate reporting of financial results, including all F&M revenue/COGS.
• Oversight of the Company’s Arena License Agreement with MSG Sports as it relates to Venue Operations.
• Proper accounting and oversight of all event related expenses, including labor.
• Review partner consignment merchandise settlements.
• Responsible for inventory reconciliation process with operations.
• Responsible for ASC 842 lease accounting, for all venues and office space.
• Prepare, review, approve, and post manual journal entries for the General Ledger.
• Review and approve monthly sales tax payments and filings for several businesses across multiple jurisdictions and assisting tax department with sales tax audit requests as applicable.
• Coordinate responses to external and internal audit requests.
• Maintenance of internal controls, including compliance with SOX 404.
• Develop of new processes that better automates month-end close reporting.
What do you need to succeed?
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a CPA License strongly preferred.
• Ability to work with various operating groups and manage large-sized team across multiple offices.
• Strong communication skills
• Must be able to juggle various projects and be willing to change projects as needed.
• A positive, confident assertive personality and ability to work on projects until completion.
• A desire to research and resolve variances.
• Must be a change agent and drive business & operational changes as we review current processes & scope of work performed by the group.
• Advanced analytical, accounting, and financial skills are required.
• Experience in monthly analysis reporting and monthly closes.
• Must have strong Power Point and Excel skills, and preferred experience in HCM, Oracle, Concur, Hyperion, and Coupa applications.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically.
• Must have solid public accounting experience in managing resources/projects.
