Director of Communications
Location: New York City, NY (Onsite)
MSG Entertainment is seeking a Director of Communications to lead the communications strategy for the New York Rangers. The Director will work closely with MSG Sports Communications to execute publicity efforts, manage media relations, and oversee game night staff. This role requires close coordination with various departments, including content, marketing, and event presentation, and involves frequent travel for road games.
Key Responsibilities:
• Travel with the team to most road games and coordinate locker room availability.
• Monitor player availability and draft updates for executives.
• Assist in media training for players and coaches.
• Spearhead publicity efforts for the franchise with MSG Sports Communications.
• Coordinate efforts with marketing, digital, community relations, and Garden of Dreams, identifying human interest stories.
• Maintain relationships with traditional and non-traditional media contacts.
• Oversee credentialing and press seating for home games.
• Develop press releases, media advisories, and pitch stories to the media.
• Manage special PR events and the game night PR staff at home games.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in PR or communications.
• Strong understanding of media relations and experience with the media.
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience in Adobe InDesign is a plus.
• Experience working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
Special Requirements:
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to travel for road games.
