Director, Event Production
Location: Chicago, IL
The Director, Event Production is responsible for the successful advancement and completion of assigned events at the Chicago Theatre. This role involves managing the operational execution of a variety of events, including concerts, family shows, special entertainment events, and sporting events. Acting as the primary liaison between clients and all venue departments, this position ensures operational efficiency through collaboration and communication.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute all aspects of assigned events from client advancement through load-in to load-out.
• Coordinate with venue departments to address staging, lighting, sound, seating, and staffing needs.
• Develop and maintain event budgets, providing regular updates and tracking costs for settlements.
• Supervise and schedule Union and Non-Union labor teams.
• Manage compliance with work rules, safety protocols, and operational guidelines.
• Troubleshoot event-day issues and handle emergencies in a fast-paced environment.
• Evaluate and improve client and guest experiences through direct observation and feedback.
• Serve as Executive on Duty (E.O.D.) to oversee ingress, run of show, egress, and emergency situations.
Qualifications:
• 8-10 years of experience in Sports & Live Event Production Management, including supervising diverse teams and managing multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of rigging, power provisions, safety standards, and Union regulations (I.A.T.S.E., I.B.E.W., Theatrical Teamsters).
• Experience with event budgeting and financial settlements.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting 25 lbs., standing for long hours, and working in inclement weather.
Special Requirements:
• Travel to New York as needed.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and split days off.
