The Staff Accountant has an integral role in supporting the day-to-day accounting for MSG's Corporate Aviation Department. In partnership with the respective business leads, the Staff Accountant manages the preparation of journal entries, preparing balance sheet and income statement reconciliations. The Staff Accountant provides on-going accounting support to Aviation for invoice processing, related party activities, Concur expense reports and other ad-hoc reporting. In addition, the Staff Accountant provides general support for the VP of Accounting Operations & Aviation and SVP of Aviation.
What will you do?
• Maintain a complete and accurate general ledger for all Aviation transactions in accordance with GAAP, including reviewing/analysis of transactional detail in the general ledger and preparation of necessary journal entries.
• Accounting for monthly and quarterly Aviation related activities (trips, related party invoicing, plane/hangar lease).
• Prepare monthly trip activity reports for executives.
• Maintain and prepare monthly data in TAS (Travel Audit System) for executive driver invoices.
• Prepare quarterly deliverables for external reporting as well as assist with coordinating and responding to Internal and External Audit.
• Manage and oversee Aviation A/P and Concur process including invoice review for proper coding and trip detail.
• Provide support to SVP Controller, VP Accounting Operations & Aviation, and Sr. Manager regarding ad-hoc requests.
• Maintain strong relationships with Corporate Accounting and Aviation counterparts
• Support the accounting group's day-to-day activities and special projects as assigned.
• Work with internal and external auditors in the quarters and at year-end on audit requests.
What do you need to succeed?
• 3 years' experience and a bachelor's degree required; Finance/Accounting preferred.
• Attention to detail, strong self-review and strict adherence to deadlines is critical.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced detail-oriented environment.
• Must be proficient in Excel and possess knowledge of automated environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills – this position has daily interaction with finance and non-finance personnel; as such, the candidate must have the ability to interact with various levels of management and staff.
• Previous experience using Oracle Financial Systems is a plus.

$57,000 — $85,000 USD
