The Creative Director is a hands-on creative leader, guiding interdisciplinary teams through research, ideation, design, content strategy, pitching, and production to deliver compelling experiences & content for Sphere. The Creative Director maintains a strategic lens, skillfully and eloquently collaborating across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
The main focus of this role is creating an ongoing content library of art content for the Exosphere, the exterior LED surface running up to 18 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Art content is how we promote our brand, innovate experiences, design compelling stories, create high-engagement viral moments, and attract other collaborators and creators.
The Creative Director is a proven leader with exemplary aesthetic and design skills that thrives on the challenge of creating content for new formats. You have a diverse range of stylistic, conceptual, and strategic approaches to design and are able to pivot and collaborate with executive leadership to create ideas that amplify Sphere’s brand and dedication to art.
What will you do?
- Execute and direct digital content creation for the Exosphere. Experience in real-time and/or live action a plus. Demonstrated experience in CG content design processes and pipelines is a must.
- Direct/curate the overall programming of the Exosphere, develop content strategy, and run shows.
- Lead internal brainstorms on assigned projects, collaborating cross-functionally with other creative, technical/product stakeholders, and multi-disciplinary teams from conception to execution.
- Ideate and direct content that ranges in complexity and concept, from ambient to playful social activations.
- Understand, leverage, and stay updated on market trends, pop culture, global events, and sports to create universal impact with the designs.
- Work closely with creative executive leadership to elevate the team’s creative output and establish a high bar for excellence.
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of exceptionally talented designers and art directors to develop industry-leading concepts and executions.
What do you need to succeed?
- 5 years of director experience in a creative studio or agency, developing innovative and engaging experiential concepts across digital and physical platforms.
- Demonstrated creative and design excellence with career progression in your portfolio. Proven track record of creating content for experiential activations at scale, with experience in live events, immersive experiences, and digital content creation.
- Demonstrated ability in written communication and presentation copywriting.
- Advanced proficiency in relevant design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote, After Effects, 3D software, etc.).
- Articulate and charismatic speaker who can lead discussions and captivate a room.
- Experience with content strategy from a creative perspective and heavy experience in designing for motion design is essential.
- Adept at visualizing concepts across a wide range of mediums.
- Objective listening skills with the ability to formulate information into concepts and designs that are technically and economically viable.
- Reliable decision-making capabilities, based on a solid understanding of how to balance creative expression, pragmatic design, and business needs.
- Strategic and agile thinker who can pivot creatively and evolve designs to meet shifting needs.
- Ability to seed and generate a larger sustainable holistic vision across platforms, locations, and supporting initiatives.

- Requires occasional travel.

Pay Range: $5,000 — $7,500 USD
