The VP of Business Solutions will be an integral part of the newly formed Commercial team. The solutions group will be responsible for overseeing the sales and service strategy for the sports and entertainment portfolio of businesses at MSG, including renewals/upsells and management of Enterprise Marketing related activities across all marketing, digital & corporate communications functions while managing relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve business goals.
S/He will be responsible for the development of a strategic sales plan and, in concert with the SVP Sales, a path to budget, through the creation of revenue-generating partnership platforms (primarily associated with assets, properties and venues within the MSG Sports and Entertainment companies and partnership activation and retention.
The VP will oversee a team that runs the day-to-day creation, development and management of assets, platforms, and pricing that are category specific, initiative specific, and/or venue specific – depending on the needs of the Marketing Partnership’s (MP) Sales and Service areas. The VP will not only help lead in the creation of conceptual ideas, but also work with key internal stakeholders and division heads to ‘˜sell through’ the concepts and maintain close working relationships.
What will you do?
• Create, execute, and implement the business development strategy and strategic sales plan for the following MSG Businesses: Sports, Entertainment, Networks.
• The VP will oversee a team of people to lead the creation and production of all rate cards, sales materials, inventory, platforms, and marketing strategies to represent venues around the world
• Serve as key liaison between the Business Solutions team and key constituents around the company, e.g., Executive and C-Suite Level, Marketing, Building Ops, MSG, Knicks, Rangers, Radio City, Security, Rockettes, Corporate Responsibility/Government Affairs, Diversity & Inclusion, People Practices, Garden of Dreams, etc.
• Responsible for helping pitch sales platforms, evaluating new business opportunities, presenting recommendations to the management team, negotiating, and closing business deals
• Responsible for maximizing utilization of partner contractual marketing funds, growing the activation efforts of the partner base, developing upsell opportunities for partner base as well as being responsible for prioritization of initiatives that partners are asked to support.
• Grow the perceived value of the MSG Partnership to drive revenue; utilize deep understanding of Madison Square Garden businesses, marketing practices, strategy and values and their application to Partners
• Evaluate business opportunities and present recommendations to the management team
• Key role in prospecting through monitoring of other regional sports networks and developing strategy and creative ideas for out reach
• Lead role in approving pitches inclusive of assets, pricing and strategy prior to being pitched
• Lead role in connecting with digital agencies to assist in maximizing the revenue of our digital assets
What do you need to succeed?
• 15 years’ experience in strategic marketing / sponsorship execution for both sports and entertainment properties
• Ability to manage team of 3-10 people and ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in creating sponsorship proposals and partner ideas
• Ability to establish relationships with all levels of the company, sponsors/clients/teammates and external stakeholders
• Technical proficiency with PCs, MS Office (Excel, Access & PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical skills

Pay Range
$160,000 — $290,000 USD
