Social Media Manager - National Geographic
Job Summary:
National Geographic is seeking an experienced Social Media Manager to oversee the growth strategies for their social platforms. This role involves collaborating with editorial, marketing, and advertising teams to create high-impact content and develop monetization strategies. The ideal candidate will manage both organic and paid social strategies, affiliate and ecommerce programs, and contribute to revenue growth.
Responsibilities:
Social Media Strategy & Optimization:
• Drive revenue growth, engagement, and subscriber acquisition across National Geographic's social accounts, with a combined audience of over 600 million.
• Develop and manage affiliate marketing strategies across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and TikTok.
• Set and track revenue and growth targets for key social platforms.
• Manage social publishing strategies across multiple platforms including Pinterest, Reddit, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
• Work closely with editorial teams to provide social insights, best practices, and creative feedback on content.
Campaign and Project Strategy:
• Oversee creative development of ecommerce social content and secure final approvals.
• Lead creative social media campaigns for special projects, YouTube content, and marketing initiatives.
• Collaborate on social sponsorship campaigns and paid media efforts.
Social Analytics and Reporting:
• Develop and own team goals for driving revenue through social platforms.
• Monitor performance to optimize content strategies and improve user experience.
• Provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders, including finance and data teams.
Communication & Collaboration:
• Partner with social platforms to identify new revenue opportunities and develop innovative activations.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams across editorial, communications, and marketing.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on social media best practices, trends, and revenue strategies.
• Advise marketing teams on managing and executing influencer campaigns to drive business goals.
Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in social media, media, entertainment, or marketing with a focus on lead acquisition, subscription growth, or ecommerce/affiliate marketing.
• Strong communication and creative writing skills.
• Experience using analytics tools to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and project management tools (e.g., AirTable, Asana).
• Proven track record of driving sales, lead acquisition, or subscription growth.
• Familiarity with ecommerce and affiliate marketing platforms.
Salary: The hiring range for this position in Washington, D.C. is $90,500 to $124,400 per year, with potential bonuses and incentives as part of the compensation package.
