Location: 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, New York (Hybrid)
NBC News Digital is looking for a talented producer to join its Digital Docs and Enterprise team. This role reports to a Senior Producer and is responsible for creating innovative, mid-form, and long-form in-depth news stories. We are seeking an editorial producer who can identify long-form narrative opportunities in hard news cycles, distilling editorial complexity into compelling video stories.
This position involves experience in reporting, pre-production, shooting, field producing, scripting, and collaborating with video editors and motion graphics teams. The producer will also fact-check video pieces and work closely with correspondents, reporters, and editors to produce high-quality, engaging news content that airs on platforms like NBCNews.com, Peacock, and NBC News NOW.
Responsibilities:
• Pitch and develop original story ideas
• Produce stories under tight deadlines and rapid turnaround times
• Conceptualize long-form stories from pre-production to post-production
• Research and report to develop editorial stories with compelling interview subjects
• Craft strong scripts with a clear structure, story arc, and character development
• Oversee the editing process for video stories, working closely with editors and the motion graphics team
• Fact-check video content to ensure accuracy and editorial integrity
• Produce video assets for rollout, including social cuts and assets for marketing and PR
• Collaborate with NBC News' Standards & Legal Team to ensure compliance
• Build relationships with correspondents, reporters, and editors to produce collaborative stories
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current events and news coverage on NBC platforms
• Stay informed on new production styles that could enhance video storytelling
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum 6 years of experience producing mid-form/long-form video for a major news organization
• Strong news judgment, excellent writing, research, interviewing, and communication skills
• Impeccable editorial judgment and journalistic integrity
• Strong shooting skills are preferred
• Self-starter who can thrive under daily deadline pressure
• Knowledge of the video news production process
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and innovate on video formats and strategy
• Strong collaborator with experience working in large news organizations
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including during breaking news situations
• Must be able to work in New York City
