Summary:
The Design Director of Product Development is a role required to drive a diverse creative team through a creative vision anchored in contemporary consumer while aiding and owning category business growth goals. Provide creative leadership by demonstrating broad bandwidth by managing all Fashion & Living responsibilities across portfolio that include Universal Studios, Illumination Ent., Dreamworks Animation, TV and E-com. Lastly, provide a professional Creative Environment that inspires smart innovative design solutions at every level.

• Create, develop, socialize, and deploy an informed creative vision across a 12-18 month development calendar internal and externally
• Deliver creative roadmaps across a diverse portfolio of I.P. that includes Girls, Boys, Juniors and Young Mens initiatives in mixed mediums and platforms
• Manage the Apparel, Accessories and Footwear Design team on all creative aspects of product trend-forward design, and timely development
• Create a best practice in Licensee/Manufacture top to top partner relations
• Work with Retail buying teams and licensee in the strategic and commercially viable creation of Universal product offerings
• Drive and deliver annual people performance results by setting team and individual roles and objectives, while creating a quarterly cadence of 1-1 conversations
• Mentor and create proper staff career paths at all levels
• Demonstrate the ability to understand and communicate annual creative budget management against core priority initiatives
• Track and manage a budget specific to creation of product development assets
• Partner and own quarterly to annual category business sales results with Category Leadership
• Drive informed Creative solutions while leveraging Global and Local emerging trends and consumer data
• Provide clear and concise direction on trends, graphics, character model draw-overs and creative comments that guide licensee partners through Product Development process
• Possess a well-versed knowledge of fashion, including manufacturing and printing processes, assortment planning, graphic and pattern development, branding and trim development
• Lead product concept pitch development in support of retail meetings and creative rollouts
• Develop open and transparent working relationships across all divisions and studio groups
• Lead and partner with cross-functional teams such as Retail, Category and Franchise to ensure Creative Solutions are deployed, executed, and communicated with excellence
• Demonstrates the ability to understand Licensee partner development milestones and schedule to ensure ship dates are aided and assisted in delivering against
• Demonstrates a €œflexible mindset€ that enables strong and decisive management within a fluid and fast paced environment
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree, preferable in fashion design, product design or related field
• At least 15 years of Design Related experience at a Fashion Company or Studio Licensor
• 5 - 10 years of Creative Team Management of team sizes from 5-20
• Experience with manufacturing of both soft and hard goods for fashion, accessories and footwear product categories; experience in branding and packaging for consumer goods
• Demonstrated leadership skills; highly organized, proactive self-starter
• Global Design Industry experience a plus
• Participate in travel €'' domestic and international
• Mac proficient with advanced skills in Adobe Suite, Keynote and Microsoft applications
