The Executive Producer must be a dynamic leader who can guide evening and weekend news coverage for two stations. The EP manages teams of producers, content producers, and writers on all aspects of newscast production while working closely with the assignment desk and overseeing/reviewing the work of reporters and photojournalists.
The Executive Producer works with the News Directors of WNBC & WNJU to lead editorial content, branding, and production of news coverage that demands a breaking-news approach, as well as exclusive investigations and long-term projects. The Executive Producer also works closely with the Digital Director of WNBC & WNJU to make sure coverage is seen across multiple platforms including FAST.
Responsibilities
• Lead producers, content producers, writers, reporters, photojournalists, editors, and assignment editors on news coverage for WNBC & WNJU.
• Collaborate with other newsroom managers, and all divisions of NBC News and Telemundo, for day-to-day coverage and special events.
• Work with all facets of the WNBC & WNJU organizations, including production, IT and engineering, to ensure the most accurate and compelling local coverage.
• Scheduling producers, content producers, and writers for the daypart
• Work closely with WNBC Standards & Legal on reporting and approval for stories with investigative approaches and elements that require review.
• Track coverage-related costs and ensure fiscal responsibility in the news division.
• Work closely with Creative Services to craft effective newscast promos.
• Must embrace a fast-paced, highly graphic, visual storytelling process.
• Must have experience with computer-assisted reporting.
