The Netflix Studio is at the forefront of this creative revolution.
From script to screen, from concept to execution, the way films are made and marketed is changing, and the Studio UX Lead will play a critical role in the modernization of this creative process. They will partner with Design, Product Management, Engineers, and Data Scientists as well as directly with studio, production, and marketing talent inside and outside of the company to create a competitive advantage for Netflix. They will build a team from the ground up tasked with uncovering pain points, unmet needs, or workarounds which inspire innovations that optimize the flow of content and assets through the Netflix Studio. They will do this by leading and empowering teams through qualitative and quantitative research that brings clarity to this large, complex problem space where art and science collide.
The Ideal Background:
• 12 years leading qualitative and quantitative research supporting product innovation or development such as ethnographic, user, UX, consumer insight, or design research
• Experience in and passion for the filmmaking industry
• Experience building out and optimizing entire B2B workflows or internal tool suites
• Experience building, managing, and growing a diverse team of consumer insight leads
• A clear, demonstrable record of applying complex research skills into practical business impact
• Effective verbal and written communication style distilling complex multi-method research reports into understandable, compelling, and actionable insights
• A graduate degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Human-computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Business, Market research or similar
What You'll Be Doing:
• You will be the lead expert of a new and emerging B2B research function in the Netflix Studio
• You will grow the team, including developing a vision and hiring expert-level ICs
• You will provide an inspiring vision and leadership for your team to set priorities, scale for growth and elevate impact
• You will embed in functions spanning pitch evaluation, programming analysis, production management, post-production, and marketing - to develop and synthesize workflow needs and user insights
• You will be an in-team practice leader and coach for a growing design practice center, supporting your colleagues in implementing their own evaluative research tools and methodologies
• You will be working and collaborating with some of the smartest people you have ever met in a fast-paced culture that acts like a start-up with the resources and vision of a large company
• You will be the voice of the user across the Netflix Studio
• You will travel (20-25%) with autonomy to increase/decrease based on project
• Your research outcomes will translate directly into business and product impact, guiding the development of the worlds largest and most technically advanced content studio
