This is a Full Time Paid Internship
*Must be available from January-October and willing to work non-traditional hours (nights, weekends and holidays) as this is a full-time, seasonal internship position.
*This position is paid (hourly wage).
*The internship program is designed for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in sports.
A. PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Marketing & Communications Associate will support the department with the operations of the group’s initiatives and activities. The position will include both office and gameday duties. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with the ability to work in a team and the eagerness to learn. Must be committed to working long hours including nights and weekends.
B. MAJOR DUTIES:
• Assist with operations of the Mr. Met’s Kids Club, including customer service questions, fulfilling orders and running the kiosk on gamedays/nights.
• Aid with digital marketing efforts including email campaigns, website maintenance and growing the MLB Ballpark App.
• Conduct research, edit publications and assist with content creation for both social media and mets.com.
• Work on planning/executing jewel events including Opening Day, on-field ceremonies and concerts.
• Assist with updates and maintenance of Mets Hall of Fame & Museum.
• Support all broadcasting initiatives and help to manage alumni relationships, planning appearances and staffing events.
• Gameday activities include running the Kids Club kiosk, Mr. Met Dash, Concert Series, clinics, tours, meet and greets, batting practices, alumni appearances, etc.
• Administrative support: phone coverage, call sheets, mailings, paper and electronic document correspondence, filing and archiving, follow-up phone calls, proofreading and editing reports, internal and external business correspondence and timelines.
• Prioritize learning by reading all information that passes through the department, and asking questions to learn about overall company business, department objectives, and priorities. Assist in writing and producing presentation materials for weekly meetings, industry meetings, etc.
• Maintain strong internal relationships with Marketing & Communications team members, creative team members, Ticket Sales, Venue Services, Corporate Sales and IT departments.
• Assist with other Marketing & Communications initiatives/events as needed.
C. QUALIFICATIONS:

• Computer skills –Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint and Excel), Outlook, Windows.
• Communication skills – strong oral and written communication skills, ability to write and speak well.

• Dependability – available for early morning/late evening/weekend work…assist other members of department; on-time for work... commitment to working nights/weekends.
• Needs and wants to be part of a winning team; ongoing sense of urgency.
• High energy, enthusiastic, ego-less person with total team player orientation and ability to motivate colleagues at every level or organization.
• Knowledge of baseball and the business of sports.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

• Previous internship experience with marketing or communications focus and well-versed knowledge of the sports, pop culture and entertainment, multicultural and New York market place a plus, but not required.
• Ability to speak and write in Spanish a plus, but not required.
D. EDUCATION:
• BS/BA Degree required. Major or concentration in Communications and/or Marketing preferred.
