Description: The New York Yankees are seeking a quantitative analyst to join the Player Development department. This individual will assist the Player Development department in developing future championship-caliber Yankee players by providing evidence-backed guidance to players, coaches, and front office personnel. The analyst will further conduct statistical research projects to respond to individual questions from department staff and to increase the overall knowledge-base of the Player Development department. Responsibilities:
• Handle all statistics-related questions from Player Development personnel and coaching staffs
• Make evidence-based suggestions for improving Player Development processes
• Assist in creating Player Development plans for Yankee prospects
• Compose written evaluations of Yankee prospects
• Educate coaches, staff, and players on analytics principles and philosophies
• Travel to minor league affiliates to support Player Development initiatives
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field
• Comfort explaining advanced topics to a non-technical audience
• Experience using SQL
• Computer programming experience, preferably with a statistically-oriented language such as R
• Familiarity with current baseball research
• Relevant baseball experience
