Position Summary:
The Video Editor operates video editing equipment to produce content for newscasts and other programming. This role involves organizing raw footage, trimming segments, assembling scenes, and adding audio and visual effects. The Video Editor collaborates with other personnel to ensure the final product meets production requirements and deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Organize and string together raw footage into a continuous sequence according to scripts or instructions
• Review assembled footage to determine if corrections are needed
• Trim filmed segments to specified lengths and reassemble them to maximize storytelling effect
• Set up and operate editing systems, video switching equipment, titling systems, and digital effects units
• Select and combine the best shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story
• Collaborate with team members to discuss assignments and desired effects
• Maintain and troubleshoot editing equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
• High school diploma
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum of two years’ experience operating video editing equipment
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Salary:
