The Director of Talent Acquisition leads the talent acquisition function, reporting to the Chief People Officer and supervising a team of recruiters and talent acquisition coordinators. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of talent acquisition strategies and initiatives across NPR, in alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities. The Director of Talent Acquisition will be a strategic partner to the organization, constantly improving upon talent acquisition processes, practices, and strategies in an ever evolving talent market and media landscape.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leads and guides NPR’s team of recruiters and talent acquisition coordinators, inspiring a culture of teamwork, passion, innovation, and collaboration
• Develops and oversees execution of talent acquisition strategies to establish and maintain NPR as an employer of choice
• Encourages innovation within team and stakeholders to continue to help NPR become a best-in-class talent acquisition function
• Creates framework to partner with NPR’s leadership to forecast hiring and talent needs and to align talent acquisition strategies and goals with NPR’s strategic priorities
• Partners with People Team leadership to iterate on key performance indicators (KPI) metrics for the Talent Acquisition department and continues implementation of data analytics and hiring metrics to evaluate performance against KPIs
• Leverages data and analytics to solve complex talent issues
• Oversees the life-cycle recruitment process for open positions
• Leads sourcing strategy, including proactive research and outreach to build diverse active and passive talent pipelines
• Develops and maintains processes and practices for a positive and efficient recruitment experience, including positive internal stakeholder and candidate experience, including through transparency and speed
• Shares talent acquisition best practices with hiring managers across NPR
• Develops and oversees execution of trainings for hiring managers to identify top talent, conduct interviews, and mitigate against unconscious bias in the talent acquisition process in partnership with the Office of Diversity and Career Development & Learning team
• Partners with NPR’s leadership and People Team members to build on employer brand
• Provides hiring and employment data, metrics, and analytics to inform strategic workforce planning goals
• Develops and promotes hiring and onboarding practices in collaboration with People Team members to advance NPR’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts at NPR
• Cultivates and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
• Supervises 6 direct reports, including preparing their regular performance reviews, and making effective recommendations regarding any hiring, promotion, and proactive performance measures for these positions.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
WORK LOCATION:
This is a remote permitted role.

• Knowledge and experience of a wide range of recruiting policies, practices, and trends
• Knowledge of federal/state employment laws and regulations as they apply to recruitment and selection, including OFCCP compliance experience
• Technical proficiency with HRIS systems, Greenhouse ATS and onboarding systems, and other HR-related systems and software
• Ability to grasp new technologies

PREFERRED SKILLS
• Minimum 6 years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including experience managing a team of recruiters
• Experience in the media industry
• Experience working within a unionized environment
