INTRO TO POSITION
We’re looking for a creative and versatile Production Assistant to join our collaborative three-person team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about arts and entertainment, deep-dive interviews, and finding new ways to connect with audiences. The Production Assistant will have a hand in all aspects of production and thus should be able to thrive in team environments.
This position will start roughly on January 6th, 2025, and go through September 30th, 2025. The position can be remote.
This is a union represented role covered under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with SAG-AFTRA
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Entry management
• Moderate Contest entries, checking for eligibility and assessing quality
• Contest communications
• Answer questions and manage communications in the Tiny Desk Contest help desk and Contest inbox
• Communicate with Legal regarding entrant eligibility questions
• Assist with Tiny Desk Contest newsletter
• Assist with Contest judge communications; ensure deadlines are met
• Update Contest website
• Draft social media copy
• Tiny Desk Contest On The Road tour
• Coordinate travel for talent
• Assist with contracts for vendors, talent and venues
• Work with venues and marketing team to ensure smooth on-sale process and maintain online event pages
• Coordinate supplies shipments
• Assist with sponsor activation set-up on site
• Assist with Member station collaboration on site
• Assist with talent management on site

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, especially working across teams
• Strong writing skills across variety of mediums
• Customer service/ hospitality experience
• Passionate about music, with knowledge of multiple genres
• At least one year of professional experience
• Experience working music events a plus
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 1.5 years experience in podcasting and/or journalism
• Familiarity with content management systems and/or Salesforce
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure
• Ability to handle more than one assignment at a time
• Ability to prioritize, anticipate and communicate effectively
• Proven ability to consistently work as part of a team, demonstrating at all times respect for the diverse constituencies at NPR and within the public radio system
WORK LOCATION
• Remote Permitted: This is a remote permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves.
JOB TYPE
• This is a temporary (9-month) full time position.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate: The U.S. based anticipated hourly rate for this opportunity is $32.45 per hour. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum hourly rate NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
