The Pac-12 Conference is seeking an Assistant Commissioner, Sports Management & Championships. This position will oversee several Olympic Sports, work with head coaches' groups and be heavily involved in the planning of all championships. This position ensures championships are properly organized while delivering outstanding customer service to key stakeholders. The Assistant Commissioner is responsible for maintaining NCAA, Conference policy in areas of responsibility, creating and maintaining strategic relationships on behalf of the Pac-12 Conference with internal and external stakeholders. The person will report directly to the Senior Associate Commissioner, Sports Management & Championships.
The Pac-12 office is based in San Ramon, CA but this position is open to fully remote employees in the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Senior Associate Commissioner, Sports Management & Championships to ensure we are providing a positive student-athlete experience through consensus building and collaboration with member institutions
• Serve as direct Sports Manager for several Olympic Sports
• Management of head coaches' group for assigned sports
• Management and execution of conference sport championships assigned
• Assistance in the execution and management of other championships
• Maintain sports governance over assigned sports; communicate and carry out rules and regulations
• Policy development of the sports assigned
• Cultivate a best practice mentality, build new strategy, and continuous process improvement
• Collaborate with Conference staff to build Conference Schedules as needed
• Oversee game management and regular communication with member institutions
• Provide recommendations to the SWAC
• Oversee awards voting and media activity for assigned sports
• Responsible for working with Pac-12 Networks to build television schedules in assigned sports
• Work directly with NCAA Sport Representatives from the membership to position and advocate for our programs for post-season selection
• Represent the Pac-12 to appropriate committees
• Potential oversight of the officiating program
• Other duties as assigned

Key Proficiencies/Qualifications:
The successful candidate must exhibit a passion for intercollegiate athletics and the ability to pursue innovative opportunities for the Pac-12 while upholding the Conference's rich traditions and academic heritage.
• BA/BS from a four-year college or university
• Preferred 5 years of proven experience within NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics
• Highly proactive, results-driven, and motivated
• Comfortable in leading and influencing others
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a diplomatic communicator
• Dependable
• Creative and innovative
• Organized with acute attention to detail
• Sense of urgency and ability to solve problems on the spot
• Works well with internal and external stakeholders

• Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the team
• Knowledge of intercollegiate sports

• Available to travel, work weekends and evenings as needed
The San Francisco Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $99,450 - $110,000 and can vary if outside of this location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to work location, job-related skills and experience, education, internal parity, and relevant education or training. The range listed is just one component of Pac-12's total compensation package for employees. Benefits include a generous paid time off policy, a remote work schedule for eligible positions, and medical/dental/vision insurance.
