Intent to hire First Assistant Director for feature film A locally based individual living within 50 miles or less from the St. Louis Missouri metropolitan area will be hired after interviews conducted with other First Assistant Director candidates. The First Assistant Director will create a table readings schedule to send to cast/crew with zoom link distribution on zoom by February 7th for the first table reading starting on Feb 9th plus subsequent dates after. The AD be available on a computer during each zoom table reading, for a total of nine readings within the date range of February 9th through February 25th . The First Assistant Director will be available for rehearsals in Missouri from March 10th through March 18th and Principal Photography from March 25th - Through April 22nd. The AD, after being hired, will work closely with the director and other crew to create a rehearsal and shooting schedule as a first draft, preliminary schedule for a kickoff meeting in Mid-February with Director and producer plus other crew. The AD will help plan and finalize the filming schedule to ensure an efficient shoot. As AD you will be the liaison between the director and the rest of the crew creating and managing the shooting schedule and shot lists, coordinating with all department heads. During pre-production, then leading up to principal photography, the AD will manage the screen tests and set, which leaves the director and DP free to focus on the actors and framing the shots. The AD creates a script breakdown including highlighting or emphasizing break downs of each scene to determine what is needed to execute specifics within the scene. Examples are specific clothing, sunglasses, and set pieces or paraphernalia like bumper stickers so all of this can be coordinated with the director and producer to ensure it has been gathered ahead of time before filming with a separated list by scene name/number. The information the AD gathers from script breakdowns allow organization for each scene plus storyboarding if the director would like to see this into a simple visual of the shots. This task usually involves the director and director of photography to determine how long each shot will take. The Assistant director will work with the director and production assistant to prepare the call sheets and the AD will ensure the Production assistant e-mails the appropriate parties, including producer, the call sheets. The AD is also responsible to be acutely aware of this feature film's entire schedule. If reshoot scenes, are required, the AD will know if and when they can make that time up somewhere else. The AD will work with the producer and production assistant in pre-production to ensure locations are secured and finalize dates for the shooting schedule. A single day of direction from the director and AD, in person, during the final rehearsals, will require the presence of the Post-Prod Supervisor for testing and planning for the future filming days on how to alert the Post-production supervisor for meeting within the last moments of production so delivery of dallies as video assets can be given to the Post-Prod Supervisor for their setup in storage and for showcasing to the Director/AD/DP. Schedule:
• Pre-Production and rehearsals schedule: February 2nd through March 18th, 2024.
• First Assistant Director will create a rehearsal and shooting schedule as a first draft, preliminary schedule for a kickoff meeting via email to share with director, DP, producer, and production assistant by scene #, dates and location name by February 5th. The final table readings schedule is to be send to cast/crew with zoom link distribution on zoom by February 7th for the first table reading starting on Feb 9th plus subsequent dates after. The PA may assist with emails and distribution.
• The AD will also meet with the Post-Prod Supervisor where they will see a presentation from the post- production supervisor who will lay out a plan showing examples of a filing system and delivery to AD for the impending dailies and final assets. Then the AD and Post-Prod Supervisor with set a time to meet with the Director, DP, producer in person on 1 day between March 10-14th to set up and present a final rehearsals and production schedule, plus a dallies and post-production plan.
• Zoom call table readings plus rehearsals schedule will be finalized by AD and delivered by PA to actors via email.
• A custom film email address will be setup for the AD. Using this email address, the AD will coordinate location management and finalize dates with producer, so a production schedule will also include location addresses and location manager contact information. AD will finalize with post-prod supervisor a scheduling structure for dallies with the deadline of March 24th prior to production.
• AD will work with the producer and props department to ensure all wardrobe, props, custom scene items, are lined up by the time production begins or shortly after production begins no later than the end of March.
• Production Schedule: March 25th through April 22nd. Approximately 4 weeks. First Assistant Director needs to be present for all filming days. AD will finalize shooting schedule order with director then coordinate call sheets with production assistant for the PA to email call sheets out to all actors and crew. Ensuring scheduling and times meet with location schedules and deadlines to move the production along accordingly with director.
• Ensure all final assets and scenes have been shot or reshoots scheduled by end of April 2024, along with pickups and audio looping, ADR schedule are set with Post-Production supervisor for the ADs final tasks.?
