POSITION SUMMARY:
The Phillies are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join the Finance team
as Staff Accountant. This position will be responsible for a variety of finance and accounting duties
including account reconciliations, creating and posting entries to the general ledger, account analysis, and responsibilities within the company's revenue and accounts receivable
function. This role ensures timely and accurate invoicing, revenue reporting, cash receipts, and
reconciliation of customer accounts to support the company's financial health. The ideal candidate
is detail oriented, highly organized, eager to learn, self-motivated and devoted to meeting deadlines
in a fast-paced environment.
This position will be located on-site at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for assisting in a variety of general accounting duties including preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries into the general ledger, various internal and external reporting, and preparation of support for annual audits.
• Prepare and maintain schedules through the coordination of various supporting documents on a regular basis. Examples of schedules include sponsorship, parking, concessions, merchandise, special events, etc.
• Perform comprehensive general ledger account analysis and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in invoicing clients for various business activities including sponsorship, suites and events.
• Manage the accounts receivable ledger, ensuring timely and accurate posting of customer payments and collection management.
• Reconcile bank deposits and cash receipts to the accounts receivable system.
• Identify areas for improvement in accounts receivable processes and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency.
• Develop a deep understanding of the company's internal operations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and support accurate financial reporting within the accounting department.
• Take on and execute special projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 1-3 years of experience in accounting required, with a preferred focus on revenue recognition and accounts receivable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) specifically regarding revenue recognition.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with an acute attention to detail are a must.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
• Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
• Sage Intacct experience a strong plus.
