Suns Legacy Partners includes several companies and many different departments that support the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and Footprint Center.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Massage Therapist with the Phoenix Suns Basketball Operations Department. As a Sports Massage Therapist, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic and sports-specific massage services to enhance the performance, recovery, and overall well-being of our team's athletes. Your expertise in massage techniques and knowledge of sports-related injuries and conditions will play a crucial role in optimizing the athletes' physical health and performance.
What Will You Do:
• Perform Sports Massage: Administer various massage techniques tailored to the specific needs of athletes in team sports. Apply deep tissue massage, myofascial release, stretching, and other appropriate techniques to improve flexibility, relieve muscle tension, enhance circulation, and promote overall muscle recovery.
• Conduct Assessment: Identify areas of muscle tightness, imbalances, and restrictions, and recommend appropriate massage techniques and interventions to address them effectively.
• Provide Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation: Collaborate with the team's medical staff to assist in the rehabilitation process. Incorporate appropriate massage techniques to aid in improve joint mobility and facilitate the recovery of injured athletes.
• Work with Team Professionals: Coordinate and communicate with other healthcare professionals, including athletic trainers, physical therapists, and sports performance coaches to ensure a holistic approach to athlete care and recovery.
• Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate and up-to-date records of athletes' assessments, treatment plans, progress, and outcomes. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding client confidentiality and data protection.
• Stay Current with Industry Developments: Stay informed about the latest advancements in sports massage therapy, sports science, and related fields. Continuously expand your knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities, such as attending seminars, workshops, and relevant conferences.
What We Need From Our Massage Therapist:
• Licensed Massage Therapist: Possess a valid license as a Massage Therapist, demonstrating completion of a recognized massage therapy program and meeting all local, state, and national requirements for practice.
• Experience with Athletes in Team Sports: Have a proven track record of working with athletes in team sports, preferably in a professional or collegiate setting. Familiarity with the demands and physical requirements of team sports, including common injuries and performance challenges.
• Strong Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology: Possess a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, musculoskeletal system, and physiology, especially as it relates to sports performance and recovery.
• Communication and Collaboration Skills: Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with athletes, trainers, and other healthcare professionals. Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to athletes.
• Physical Fitness and Stamina: Possess the physical fitness and stamina required to perform massages for extended periods and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Professionalism and Ethics: Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of your work. Adhere to the code of ethics and professional standards set by the massage therapy profession.
• Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic sports environment.
Experience/ Education Requirements:
• Licensed Massage Therapist: Possess a valid license as a Massage Therapist, demonstrating completion of a recognized massage therapy program and meeting all local, state, and national requirements for practice.
