We're looking for a Gameplay Systems Designer to architect the core engagement mechanics of a creative platform. This isn't just about UI-it's about how we make the platform fun, rewarding, and addictive. You'll design the loops, rewards, progression systems, and motivational structures that turn powerful tools into playful experiences.
Responsibilities
• Design and own the core gameplay systems of a creative platform: progression loops, rewards, quests, ranks, leaderboards, badges, unlocks, and engagement layers.
• Collaborate with product, UX/UI, dev, and creative teams to embed game mechanics across all tools.
• Develop and iterate on reward systems that motivate users-from students and indie creators to pros and studios.
• Create systems that balance player psychology, accessibility, and long-term retention.
• Establish scalable frameworks for daily, weekly, and seasonal engagement cycles.
• Leverage data (in collaboration with analytics teams) to refine and optimize engagement strategies.
• Champion a culture of playful design thinking across the entire ecosystem.
Requirements
• 5 years of experience in game design, systems design, or gamified product/platform design.
• Strong understanding of motivational design, habit-forming loops, and behavioral economics.
• Proven experience designing progression, XP systems, economies, or live service engagement tools.
• Ability to create documentation, wireframes, flow diagrams, and design specs for complex systems.
• Collaborative mindset-comfortable working with engineers, artists, product leads, and execs.
• Passionate about empowering creators through engaging, rewarding experiences.
Nice-to-Haves
• Experience in transmedia platforms, educational tech, or UGC ecosystems
• Knowledge of Unreal Engine, Unity, or browser-based creative tools
• Familiarity with blockchain-based systems, collectibles, or digital marketplaces
• A portfolio of systems you've designed and shipped (games or gamified apps)
