Studio Operations Manager, Prime Video Live Sports
Prime Video is seeking a Studio Operations Manager for our growing Live Sports Production Technical Operations team. The ideal candidate will be able to lead a team of staff and freelance personnel during the preparation, planning, and execution of live studio production to support the Amazon Prime Sports portfolio.
Duties include the scheduling of crew and facilities, working with Engineering to ensure the technical integrity of all equipment to support live production, and working with production to address needs as they come up during a live production. The Studio Operations Manager will also work with the media management department to ensure all archive workflows are working as planned.
The ideal candidate will assist in the budget planning process with the Technical Operations department to ensure ongoing and future budget needs are accounted for. This role requires vision, ability to deal with ambiguity, and a drive to learn and be curious in a high-stakes environment that is constantly evolving.
A successful candidate will cater to the needs of customers – both internal and external - often with little oversight. Project management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines will be critical to the success of this position.
This candidate will also assist in the planning and execution of a new facility that will serve as the Amazon production facility to produce compelling content for customers, especially with the addition of NASCAR and NBA to the sports portfolio in 2025.
The ideal candidate will continue to dive deep on new technology through meetings with vendors and attendance at industry conferences that showcase new best practices and technology advances.
Key job responsibilities
• Oversee day to day studio operations to ensure a compelling customer experience is produced in an efficient and frictionless environment.
• Create a weekly production schedule that details all employee activity, both full time staff and freelance resources.
• Update and audit these schedules as events get added or as production needs change.
• Work closely with production teams and vendors to ensure alignment on all production items needed for studio production.
• Ensure all archive workflows are working as designed as they relate to the studio as an archive hub.
• Follow up with media management department to support archive integrity and accuracy.
• Maintain and track all physical assets in the studio environment.
• Manage relationships with vendors as needed for equipment repair or replacement.
• Assist in the annual budget process with the Head of Tech Ops and the Head of Engineering & Technology.
• Track all cap ex and op ex expenditures for the studio.
• Collaborate with Amazon technology teams to improve existing tools and operational workflows by identifying problem areas and providing smart business solutions.

About the team
We provide technical operations support for live sports streaming on Prime Video. A successful team member requires vision, ability to deal with ambiguity, and a drive to learn and be curious in a high-stakes environment that is constantly evolving. We work at the Amazon production facility in Culver City, CA to produce compelling sports content for customers including NFL Thursday Night Football. Prime members can stream a bevy of different sports throughout the year from basketball to baseball to soccer, and boxing.
Qualifications
• 8 years of experience in studio operations management.
• Deep knowledge of and previous experience with studio-based equipment, technical workflows, and the needs of a Production team in a live production environment.
• Knowledge of video, audio, and image encoding formats and industry best practices.
• Deep knowledge with budgeting and scheduling workflows.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders – both internal and external.
• Experience with high-volume, high-velocity, large-scale file management (workflow orchestration, file-movement, permission management, etc.)
• Adaptability and resilience to quick changes in priorities, tools, workflow and technology.
