SUCCESSFUL JOB POSTINGS IN THE COVID-19 ERA
We are fiding hesitation from job seekers for one or more of the following reasons:
- Is this job "real" anymore? - If employers are not updating their copy to acknowledge the current state of the union, job seekers are pausing to assess if this is a viable new posting or is this something "pre-pandemic" that is no longer being actively recruited.
- Unclear timeline for hiring - Is this a job that is an eminent hire that can be onboarded remotely or is this a hire date of TBD based on protective orders being lifted?
We see a much stronger performance from postings that address this. Even if it is something as simple as a simple acknowledgment of the current climate and that you are still moving forward with the hire.
- Work location expectations - Is this considered an essential job and expected to work on-site? Even when protective orders are lifted, many have kids and without school or childcare, are people even able to take this job as they may need to work from home for the foreseeable future.
As businesses are starting to reopen at different rates, we are strongly encouraging employers to address what interviewing, onboarding, work location expectations, and hiring timelines look like. This is not business as usual, this is business as unusual, to say the least. With acknowledgment and laying out expectations in these unprecedented times, it will help job posting performance as you allay job seeker concerns.
