Intern - Design, James Ford Next in Fashion

This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship

Internship Start Date/Season: 3/1/24
Internship Duration: 3 or 6 mo.
Time/Days Required: 2 days/week or 10 hours/week maximum
Workplace Requirements: Hybrid, partial remote and partial in-office

Assistant needed to Owner/Creative Director James Ford (Netflix, Next in Fashion). Role will be responsible for assisting with and touching all areas of the business. The main areas of business are: Celebrity Styling, Custom Tailoring, and Ecommerce Design and Production

A candidate can expect to experience introductory level work in the below areas:

Ecommerce product development, tech packs, fit samples for (2) seasonal collections per year
Private client management for custom clothing, fittings
Light social media production 
Working with clients to schedule appointment, fittings, alterations, adhering to their event deadlines
Design file management for clients
Updating drawings, creating suitable tech packs for vendors including: dye houses, embroidery, and local sample makers.
Must be able to lift 35 lbs. maximum, and have reliable transportation

The ideal candidate has the below qualifications:

Strong sense of time management 
Beginner/Intermediate skills in: 
Sketching (Adobe Illustrator)
Knowledge of tools, fabrics, spec'ing garments, and commercial production basics
Tailoring techniques 
Proficent in: Adobe Illustrator, Shopify Ecommerce, Airtable, G-Suite
Professional written and verbal communication skills for high-profile clients, agents, and their assistants.

How to structure your own business, obtain clients, and produce work that showcases your brand for both individual clients and retail buyers
How to market and message to your intended audience on a variety of mediums, including: social media, podcasting, email marketing, and more
How to effectively communicate with factories to produce samples, and bulk volume.
How to edit your design ideas into coherent collections aimed at the target market, maximizing your effort-to-impact of your business' financial health and longevity. 

The schedule is flexible with your class schedule. Some work will be in-person, while other tasks may be done remotely from home on your timeline. This role will be required to use their own transportation for errands on occasion.
