This is a Full Time Job
Artist-friendly production studio seeking high-level storyboard/animatic artist for CG animated feature. The storyboard artist’s role is to translate scripts from print to a visual medium that simply and briefly illustrates the story’s key scenes and events, establishes the mood, characters’ plot, the setting, and anything else that will help the audience understand the story. Invents and stages action.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
* Receive written, verbal, and sometimes thumb-nailed descriptions of a sequence from the director
* Draw storyboards in Storyboard Pro that depict the action, setting, camera placement, and acting of the characters in that sequence
* Implements elements from the design department (BG settings, on-model characters, and props) into the board to create 2D layouts that will translate accurately into a 3D environment.
* Create new drawings to fix and change sequences throughout the production process.
* Time-out boards with dialogue within Storyboard Pro to become a comprehensive animatic.
Artistic Requirements:
* Ability to create story ideas and options to story ideas
* Ability to present work in a clear and entertaining way
* Entertaining acting ideas and ability to portray broad comedy
* Strong layout and design skills
* Demonstrated proficiency in scene, shot, camera, and character composition required.
* Strong, communicative draftsmanship
* Strong and well developed traditional art skills, including knowledge of color, lighting, perspective, and composition. Strong character/ environments concept drawing skills required.
* Ability to work quickly, when necessary
* Ability to work collaboratively, create and then change gears
Other Requirements:
* Must provide portfolio/ work samples
* 2-3 years animation board experience in feature film, preferably CG
* Modeling, lighting, texturing, and animation experience—knowledge of how a 2D image will translate into 3D—a plus.
* MUST have a working knowledge of the Storyboard Pro program
*Knowledge of terminology and techniques used in film, animation and visual effects including basic knowledge of photography and camera lenses.
* Excellent organizational skills a must.
* Able to attend an in-person interview in Los Angeles
* Available to start within the next few weeks/ Immediately
