Position Summary:
The Sacramento Kings seek an experienced and mission-driven Director of Social Responsibility to lead strategic community impact and philanthropic initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Experiences and Social Responsibility, this individual will play a key role in developing and executing programs that reflect the Kings core values and long-standing commitment to uplifting the Sacramento region.
This role will oversee a growing team, including a Manager and seasonal interns. It will be responsible for leading the department's programmatic strategy, stakeholder engagement, philanthropic efforts, and organizational impact reporting. The ideal candidate is a professional, highly organized, forward-thinking leader who thrives in high-pressure environments and brings strong strategic, communication, and project management skills to the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight:
• In partnership with the Vice President, lead the development and execution of the Sacramento Kings social responsibility and philanthropic strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational values and long-term objectives.
• Oversee the planning and delivery of a portfolio of high-impact community programs focused on health, education, sustainability, and social justice.
• Supervise a team including a Manager and interns, providing direction, mentorship, and accountability for successful program execution.
• Manage multiple budgets for various initiatives, ensuring efficient resource allocation and fiscal responsibility.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Build and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, athletes, fans, community and nonprofit organizations, and corporate partners.
• Collaborate with Corporate Partnerships to activate community impact programs, and work with Marketing, Entertainment, and Sales teams to integrate community engagement into the fan experience.
• Partner with PR and Content teams to highlight the Kings social responsibility initiatives and promote awareness through integrated campaigns.
• Represent the Kings at local community events, fostering partnerships and strengthening community ties.
• Represent the Sacramento Kings Social Responsibility department on calls with the NBA Social Responsibility Team, NBA Foundation, and NBA Social Justice Coalition.
• Work cross-functionally with internal departments to ensure alignment on community impact programs and initiatives, driving integrated efforts across the organization.
• Support the coordination and execution of community-focused experiences and events, including the annual Do Good Summit, ROOT Garden builds, theme nights, the Annual Kings Foundation Kingpin Classic, and other special events.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
• Establish clear metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of all social responsibility initiatives.
• Monitor and analyze program outcomes and impact data to inform ongoing improvements and demonstrate return on investment.
• Lead the development of a season-long impact report to highlight outcomes, showcase community investment, and guide future priorities.
Communication & Outreach
• Collaborate with Marketing and Communications teams to elevate awareness of the Sacramento Kings social responsibility initiatives through integrated storytelling and public-facing campaigns.
• Promote transparency, authenticity, and consistency in messaging to build trust and enhance the organization's reputation as a committed community leader.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in corporate social responsibility, nonprofit management, philanthropy, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and evaluating community-based programs with measurable outcomes.
• Proven ability to manage personnel, budgets, timelines, and partnerships simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with impact tracking systems and preparing professional reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
• A deep personal and professional commitment to equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and game nights as needed.
Compensation
• The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
