The A/V Technician at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation's Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists in Los Angeles is responsible for setting up and operating all audio/visual components for events. This role includes maintaining the facility's A/V equipment and lighting systems, ensuring the venue remains visually appealing, and managing the technical production of online events.
Primary Duties:
• Operate A/V equipment for live events, including digital projection, lighting, audio, microphones, presentations, and video conferencing.
• Collaborate with the Programming and Operations teams to meet all event and technical requirements.
• Configure and adjust the screening room based on specific event seating and technical needs.
• Oversee the quality and flow of technical operations during events, ensuring all A/V equipment and lighting function correctly, content is displayed as planned, and systems are executed according to event specifications.
• Assist House Managers with rental events.
• Assist attendees with special needs.
• Conduct initial troubleshooting of equipment issues and report them to the IT & Facilities team.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow safety procedures.
• Record online events via Zoom, assisting talent and panelists with optimal lighting, framing, and audio.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.
Knowledge/Skills:
• Familiarity with various audio and video connector types.
• Knowledge of video software such as VLC, video formats and aspect ratios.
• Experience with both Apple and Windows platforms.
• Proficiency in hosting Zoom meetings is required.
• Strong skills in PowerPoint and PDF documents are essential.
• Proficient in Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, etc.).
• Flexibility to work overtime or extended hours as needed, including nighttime and weekends.
• Preferred experience as a Theatrical Technician, Light Board Operator, Stage Manager, or Editor.
• Physical ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb ladders, and safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks under deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a high degree of patience and tact.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and interpretive abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation.
