The person in this role will provide leadership direction for in-house security and contracted staff (parking, medical, local and federal agencies) in all phases of building/event security, parking, risk management, and life safety for the AT&T Center and surrounding grounds, Toyota Field and The Rock (Spurs Practice Facility).
They will be responsible for the oversight of planning, organizing, and directing of security/parking team members in the performance of all necessary job functions for events with minimal supervision, mentorship, or instruction. Responsibilities
• Collaborate with external clients and officials to ensure the venue is well prepared and compliant from a security, safety, and parking aspect, to include sports league officials. Develop and maintain close working relationships with local Police, Sheriff and Fire Departments, and other local, state, and federal authorities.
• Partner with internal departments such as Facility Operations, Legal/Risk Management, Event Operations, Fan Operations and People Operations, to ensure accountability for up-to-date safety standards, compliance of applicable regulations for the building and liability risk is limited.
• Ensure the facility Emergency Management Plan is current along with all compliance measures and/or certifications are consistent with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. Consistently maintain and develop training programs and compliance to include emergency evacuation, bomb threats, terroristic threats, active shooter, etc. as it applies to event and non-event day needs.
• Provide effective leadership consistent with our values regarding the security planning and management for all events at our facilities. Serve, empower, and train all staff, to build and maintain a positive work environment. Develop supervisory teams to lead, coach, mentor, and field personnel issues as necessary.
• Research, develop and implement policies and procedures around staff and event safety requirement. Lead the training of staff and implement programs applicable to our venue.
• Prepare and manage annual operational budget as well as invoice review and approval.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• 10 years experience in criminal justice, law enforcement or a similar field.
• 5 years of experience in security and event management in a sports and/or live entertainment.
• 5 years experience with progressive responsibility working with either the NBA, NFL, NHL, or MLB team or combination thereof preferred.
• Experience in emergency planning and crisis management, investigation skills, security technology, life safety, risk management, payroll, and scheduling are required.
• General understanding of other areas of live entertainment venue management, including retail operations, building operations, production, building engineering, guest services, parking and food & beverage operations is desired.
• Ability to complete projects and resolve issues expeditiously and independently.
• Must be thorough and highly organized with an ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and adapt to change.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications, to include outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Ability to walk/patrol for long periods of time in an arena environment is required.
• Experience working with CCTV, access control systems, radio communication systems, fire alarm panels, and parking control systems.
• Current Security Certification in the State of Texas, or the ability to satisfy the certification requirements.
• Professional certifications including Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Sports Security Professional (CSSP) preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour, Academy for Venue Safety and Security (AVSS) graduate preferred.
