The Manager of Production Finance is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of production activities involving stage shoots, virtual production and cutting edge technology for Eyeline Studios. Reporting to the Director of Production Finance, this role requires a deep understanding of both traditional production finance (live action) and the unique financial needs of cutting-edge virtual production technology. The Manager will work closely with producers, production teams, and the finance department to ensure bids, budgets, forecasts, and costs are aligned with company objectives while maintaining financial discipline throughout the production cycle.
Key Responsibilities
• Bidding:
• Assist with setting pricing methodologies for studio services
• Design improvement, maintenance, and implementation of proprietary bidding templates
• Financial review of outgoing project bid packages and internal project budgets
Budgeting & Forecasting:
• Collaborate with production teams, department heads, and technology leads to create comprehensive, realistic budgets for projects, including costs related to hardware, software, crew, travel and innovative technologies
• Provide regular budget updates and forecast projections, adjusting for evolving production needs and technological developments in a virtual production environment
Cost Tracking & Financial Reporting:
• Track project expenses and ensure costs remain within budget while meeting production timelines and creative requirements
• Implement systems to track and monitor the unique costs associated with innovative technologies, ensuring transparency and accountability
• Prepare and present financial reports for internal stakeholders, such as senior management and producers, offering insights on financial performance, variances, and potential risks and opportunities
Cash Flow Management:
• Oversee cash flow management for assigned projects, ensuring that all invoices and payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner
Collaboration with Production Teams:
• Act as a key financial advisor for the production team, providing financial insights and guidance throughout the production process
• Work closely with producers, technical leads, and department heads to ensure that financial constraints are considered while maintaining creative flexibility in production environments
• Help identify potential financial risks early in the process and propose solutions to mitigate them
Financial Compliance & Auditing:
• Ensure that all financial practices comply with company policies, industry regulations, and client-specific requirements, and assist with financial audits as needed
Process Improvement & Innovation:
• Help establish and refine financial processes tailored to the unique needs of Eyeline projects, implementing best practices for budgeting, cost control, and reporting
• Stay current with advancements in Eyeline technologies, and assess their impact on financial processes, workflows, and cost structures
• Continuously review financial tools, technologies, and systems to optimize efficiency and accuracy
Cross-Functional Team Leadership:
• Work collaboratively with technology teams, production managers, creative leads, production tax, finance & accounting teams
• Foster strong relationships between finance and technical departments to ensure clear communication and alignment between financial goals and technological needs
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• 5-7 years of experience in production finance, with a strong background in managing budgets for virtual production, technology-driven projects, or media production
• Familiarity with the financial implications of virtual production technologies, such as real-time rendering, motion capture, virtual sets, LED volumes, etc.
• Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial tracking, and reporting within complex, technology-driven environments
• High level of proficiency with financial software (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, Workday, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with production teams, technical experts, and senior management
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess financial risks and propose actionable solutions
• Experience managing cash flow and vendor relations in a project-based production environment.
• Knowledge of virtual production technology and workflows (preferred)
• Experience with managing technology budgets and contracts, including licensing and software expenses (preferred)
• Experience working in fast-paced, cutting-edge production environments that blend creativity and advanced technology (preferred)
• Familiarity with production finance for live action photography, including payroll accounting systems (Global Vista, PSL , or Greenslate) (preferred)
• Familiarity with Movie Magic Budgeting software (preferred)
$150,000 - $175,000 a year
This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Los Angeles, California. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary outside of this range and will also be dependent on your location.
