The Vice President of Film and Television Labor Relations will lead the labor relations strategy and execution for Skydance. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong, established relationships with entertainment guilds and unions such as SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, IATSE, Teamsters and others. The VP will serve as the primary negotiator and liaison between the company and these guilds, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements, resolving disputes, and fostering a collaborative working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Labor Relations Strategy:
• Develop and implement comprehensive labor relations strategies that align with the company's business objectives and maintain positive relationships with guilds and unions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, legal developments, and changes in labor laws to proactively address potential impacts on the company.
• Negotiations:
• Lead negotiations for collective bargaining agreements with various entertainment guilds.
• Represent the company in negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations to secure agreements that are favorable to the company's operational goals.
• Compliance and Advisory:
• Ensure the company complies with all collective bargaining agreements and labor laws.
• Provide guidance and training to management and production teams on labor relations issues, contract interpretations, and compliance matters.
• Advise on the implications of labor relations issues on company projects and productions.
• Dispute Resolution:
• Address and resolve labor disputes, grievances, and other labor-related issues promptly and effectively.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for guild representatives in resolving conflicts and fostering collaborative relationships.
• Relationship Management:
• Maintain and strengthen positive working relationships with guild leaders, union officials, and other industry stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted advisor and build rapport with internal teams, including production, HR, legal, and senior leadership.
• Operational Support:
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth operations and adherence to labor agreements during film and television production.
• Monitor and manage labor costs, work rules, and other contractual obligations to optimize operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Labor Relations, Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in labor relations within the entertainment industry.
• Proven track record of successful negotiations with entertainment guilds and unions.
• In-depth knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, labor laws, and industry regulations.
• Strong relationships with key guilds and unions such as SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, IATSE, Teamsters etc.
• Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong leadership and management capabilities.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $215,000 – $235,000. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate's location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors. The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.
