Job Description:
The Director, A&R is responsible for evaluating and recommending new talent for Columbia Records. They will act as a label liaison, overseeing artist projects from production to commercial success. Responsibilities include attending live showcases, managing recording and production processes, and developing relationships within the industry.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and recommend new talent for signing to Columbia Records.
Act as the label liaison for assigned artists.
Attend live showcases and concerts to scout new talent.
Oversee recording, production, mixing, and mastering of artist projects.
Provide creative input and direction on artist material.
Find suitable producers, writers, and sound engineers for projects.
Plan and monitor recording budgets.
Collaborate with marketing, publicity, and other departments to ensure commercial success.
Maintain strong relationships with managers, agents, concert promoters, radio reps, and industry contacts.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of A&R experience in the music industry, with a proven track record of discovering artists.
Exceptional communication and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team player.
Strong problem-solving, social, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel and attend evening showcases.
