The Merch Collective is a boutique music merchandising company representing top Artists in touring, eCommerce, and retail channels has an immediate opening for a Touring Director.
We are seeking a Touring Director that must be comfortable with travel, minute management of detail, ability to interface effectively and professionally directly with Touring Personnel, Building and Venue contacts, Client Management, Office Staff (Tour Team, Finance, Account Managers, etc). Additionally, must have ability to multi-task and successfully coordinate simultaneous activity for clients within multiple internal company departments and functions.
What you'll do:
Touring Merch Responsibilities
• Advance all shows to confirm merch deal, shipping address, check in time, vending supplies available, number of vendors, number of stands, cc machines, etc.
• Maintain an organized and accurate inventory both physically and within AtVenu, keep updated show cash/float, road expenses, etc.
• Settle shows nightly with each venue rep, distribute show settlements to TMC, management and other relevant parties.
• Maintain a professional attitude and rapport with your fellow crew members and concert goers.
Tour Department Assistance
• Projections: Perform sales forecasting based on historical sales data, demographic trends, and venue locations and place orders to fulfill projected demand and sales.
• Logistics Coordination
• Collaborate regularly with the tour manager (TM) and Production team to coordinate logistics.
• Develop and maintain production order schedules with printers, vendors, and blank suppliers.
• Coordinate initial and ongoing shipments throughout tour, work with venues and freight partners to utilize the most cost-effective channels.
• Prepare and ship necessary tour supplies, including grids, iPads, POS equipment, body forms, binder clips, price signs, tape guns with tape, clip lights, extension cords, etc.
• Inventory and Sales Management
• Monitor and update running inventory, spreadsheets, and nightly sales sheets on a daily basis.
• Provide accurate projections for short and long term production and logistical needs.
• Evaluate individual product sales throughout the tour to make necessary adjustments and maximize sales.
• Review overall stock levels as a tour nears completion to avoid excess overages. When and where necessary coordinate with eCommerce team to move online.
Assist Artist Relations Managers
• Interface with Artist Relations Managers to help streamline day-to-day admin tasks which may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Building SKUs, processing orders, and submitting information through TMC’s internal inventory management system.
• Relaying detailed product information to internal Tour and eCommerce departments to facilitate the sale and fulfillment of product on tour, online, retail and other sales channels.
• Understanding client feedback on artwork and sharing explicit direction with the internal Art team to help generate client approvals based on client and team notes.
• Project Coordination
• Submit art requests, coordinate poster artists/details, run projections for posters as needed.
• Collaborate with department heads and their teams to set realistic deadlines on client projects.
• Regularly check in with internal teams to ensure client needs are being met or exceeded, projects are on track, and deadlines are being met.
• Monitor workflow to ensure all internal departments, systems, and third-party associates are on schedule for successful client project execution.
• Monitor and audit costing, quotes, and invoicing related to clients.
Who you are:
• 3 – 5 year’s experience selling merchandise on the road
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Extremely organized with acute attention to detail
• Experience with atVenu, Local Sales Tax, etc.
• Ability to communicate well both written and verbally
• Must be able to multi-task, delegate responsibility and tasks and be flexible toward fast-moving project deadlines
• Professional attitude and willingness to accept challenges
• An interest in music, fashion and pop-culture a definite plus
