Creative Executive

For Sony Pictures Animation:
The Creative Executive, Series works alongside multiple senior executives to contribute to the overall creative direction of a slate of series in production at the studio, as well as participates as a crucial member of the creative group, pitching in wherever is needed.
Responsibilities:
• Support the creative team on multiple series in production. This could include attending meetings, taking notes, distributing material, research projects, and other general coordinating between the production, studio, and other partners.
• Provide and consolidate creative notes on all aspects of series production, including but not limited to premises, outlines, scripts, designs, storyboards, animatics, animation, casting, and music.
• Suggest talent and compile lists to staff series, showing a clear understanding of the creative needs of the show and why talent will be a good fit.
• Provide overall organizational help to support the series with the creation of presentation decks, organization, and tracking materials.
• Develop and cultivate relationships with industry contacts (i.e. writers, agents, directors and studio executives).
• Build strong relationships within the company to create a healthy and professional workflow supporting the series.
• Liaise with Business Affairs and Legal on progress for talent negotiations.
• Participate in group discussions about material, talent, and strategy for the division. Keep up to date with industry trends and innovations.
• Attend and represent the company at local animation festivals and industry events as needed.
Job requirements:
• A passion for narrative storytelling.
• Strong writing skills.
• Strong analytical capacity. Specifically, a strong sense of teleplay structure and character development.
• Ability to effectively communicate, interact, and partner with talent and executives at both Sony and our distribution partners is crucial.
• Motivated by the success of the team, as opposed to the individual.
• Works well in groups and autonomously. Strong skills in the area of time management and organization.
• Strong understanding of film/television production and the entertainment industry in general is vital, as well as a strong interest in and good understanding of the animation process.
• Discretion with sensitive information.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic/ever-changing environment. A flexible mentality is a must.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in an entertainment related environment is required. Experience in CG animated series is strongly preferred.
• The ideal candidate will have experience in development or current series at a major studio, network, or streamer. Interest in current series is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the studio and show leadership to build and manage the production pipeline.
• Maintain and guide series schedule, assuring that creative and production crew are aware of assignments and target dates.
• Run day to day operations of the series - including Script, Visual Development, Storyboards, and Editorial departments.
• Support Series Department Heads in facilitating each department's creative and technical needs.
• Maintain organization of server files and innovate structure as needed.
• Conduct daily and weekly reports to Line Producer and Series Execs.
• Ensure crew timecards are filled out and submitted for approval weekly.
• Handle and provide solutions for all series production deadlines.
• Apply knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Shotgrid, Flix, Adobe Suite, Storyboard Pro, Google Ecosystem, etc for overall production tracking.
• Facilitate workflow throughout series production while remaining flexible to structural and creative changes.
• Work with external departments to facilitate travel, office solutions, and overall production needs.
Qualifications
• Understanding of backend and frontend production pipelines.
• Previous dynamic experience in a production role in CG animation.
• Previous experience working with a production team of 30-40 employees.
• Highly organized, resourceful, and diligent with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive and resourceful in seeking solutions and managing a team.
• Able to work independently and set appropriate priorities.
• Take direction and feedback when needed and also take the initiative where applicable.
• Trustworthy and able to maintain a high level of discretion.
• Driven, innovative, strategic and solution focused.
• Ability to communicate in a constructive, patient, and proactive manner.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to balance various priorities and deadlines in an energetic and fast-moving environment.
• Computer and technology literate – familiarity with Mac/PC operating systems, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Google Ecosystem.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $59,600 to $78,200. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
