Sony Pictures Television Studios (SPTS) is one of the industry's leading content providers, producing programming worldwide across genres and platforms. As the largest independent TV studio in the industry, SPTS produces 50+ shows each year including THE BOYS, COBRA KAI, THE GOOD DOCTOR, OUTLANDER, and PLATONIC. SPTS is part of the larger Sony Pictures Television (SPT) division. SPT is a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sony Group Corporation.
The Mgr Comedy Development at SPTS manages the creative process for the development of new scripted programming and current scripted series.
Core Responsibilities:
• Manage assigned series and development slates
• Read and assess script submissions for potential new development
• Attend pitches, development/production meetings, press events, panels, testing, etc.
• Review and discuss creative notes on all submitted creative materials
• Network with suppliers and develop new relationships in search of new creative material
• Supervise production of programs and series; review and approve outlines, scripts, rough cuts, budgets and post-production
• Participate in notes meetings; provide feedback on projects
• Act as liaison across departments (Production, Development, Publicity & Talent, Business Affairs, Casting, etc.) to streamline the flow of information.
• Maintain high degree of knowledge of current events and trends
• Track industry trade information on competitors and obtain competitive creative materials
• Attend showcases and performances in search of new talent
Requirements:
• BA/BS or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of scripted development experience
• Strong time management and multi-tasking skills needed and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Detailed-oriented and extremely organized
• Must have the ability to work independently, efficiently and be able to meet deadlines under strict time constraints
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
