This Summer opportunity is from May through August (start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules) and all candidates must be able to work full time hours (40 hours a week). Our offices are open Monday through Friday, 9-6 pm. This position is ideal for a student enrolled in an accredited college or university. A hybrid work structure may or may not be available.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
Founded by co-presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard with Marcie Bloom in January 1992, Sony Pictures Classics (SPC) specializes in the acquisition, marketing and distribution of prestigious English language and international independent films. SPC has been nominated for 161 Academy Awards including THE FATHER, CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, WHIPLASH, AMOUR, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, AN EDUCATION, CAPOTE, HOWARDS END, and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON.
The Sony Pictures Classics' (SPC) Acquisitions Department focuses on sourcing films for the studio.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in writing coverage for scripts and finished films
• Research on upcoming titles
• Review and track box office performance metrics
• Provide market research on titles, ideal audience, and potential popularity
QUALIFICATIONS:
• An interest in American independent & International films and the marketplace
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Passion and interest in the acquisitions process
• Interest in learning how to read and evaluate scripts
• Ability work to work through during the Summer session, 40 hours a week
• Foreign Language ability a plus
Salary/Benefits
$22.00
per hour
The anticipated base salary for this position is $22/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
