Conference Programming Specialist

Job Purpose:
The Conference Programming Department strives to curate and showcase inspiring, creative, and forward-thinking content, attracting the brightest minds in the industry while making SXSW the premier destination for discovery and creativity. This part-time Conference Specialist will ensure that SXSW Conference processes and production implementations are met.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
• Effectively manage a large volume of emails promptly
• Provide timely responses to stakeholder
• Provide administrative support to SXSW Conference as needed
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Assist with database information processing and record data upkeep to ensure that session content is current.
On-Site Responsibilities:
On-site duties include overseeing programming at the assigned venue, ensuring that the conference sessions run on time, tracking attendee engagement, troubleshooting any on-site issues that arise (pertaining to Conference programming), helping registrants and speakers with customer service needs, and assisting with any staff requests if / when shorthanded.

• Strong in-person, written, and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with common business and communication software (Microsoft Office Suite) and apps (Google Docs/Sheets/Slides, Slack, Basecamp, Filemaker
• Experience in a public-facing role preferred
• Experience in conference or event planning is preferred
Physical Requirements:
This position potentially requires being in front of a computer screen for extended periods. During the in-person event, the position requires extended periods of standing and walking (or other means to achieve requirements), along with moving items up to 10 pounds around different locations.
Work Location & Schedule:
This is a part-time position located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Monday through Friday, 10am-6 pm CT. However, you must be available to work additional hours in March, including evenings and weekends.
