(I) Event Staffing Intern
Internship Purpose
The Event Staffing Intern candidate excels at customer service and is interested in pursuing a career in fields related to event and conference planning, festival production, or volunteer management. This position will engage in projects that provide practical experience supporting large-scale event operations, including volunteer recruitment and management, external and internal customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making.
What You Will Learn
• Develop skills in directing and supporting volunteer managers and crew, including addressing conflicts and ensuring smooth operations.
• Gain experience overseeing volunteer operations and supporting film production staff with resource allocation.
• Enhance customer service abilities by assisting attendees, personnel, and volunteers and learning to resolve issues effectively.
• Learn to document operational challenges and request assistance using established reporting methods.
• Understand and apply company policies and procedures while observing and modeling professional behavior.
On-site Event Responsibilities
• Provide support to the Event Staffing team and volunteers.
• Execute intern project plans and document the outcomes.
• Engage with volunteers to address concerns, answer questions, or assist with staffing assignments.
• Reinforce both internal and external customer service efforts.
• Identify areas of need and use proper reporting methods to document operational challenges or request assistance.
Qualifications & Skills
To be eligible for an SXSW internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited university or college and live in Texas.
Candidates should possess the following attributes:

• Knowledge of Google Suite and MS Office and a willingness to learn new software.
Physical Requirements
It is frequently required to stand for long periods, walking multiple miles daily during the event. Schedules may vary during the on-site operational period. Manual dexterity is needed for keyboard and computer use, as well as occasional lifting of 20 pounds.
Work Location, Schedule & Pay
• This position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday.
• Candidates must be available to work in the office up to 16 hours per week from November 2024 to March 2, 2025.
• Candidates must be available to work full-time availability (40 hours per week) from March 3, 2025, to March 15, 2025.
• Candidates will return to 16 hours per week from March 16, 2025 to April 18, 2025
• This position may also receive preferential consideration for future SXSW hiring opportunities.
• This is a paid internship at $12.00/hr.
Salary/Benefits
$12.00 - 12.00 per hour
