Sales Manager, Event Credentials

Job Purpose
This role is ideal for someone passionate about the creative industries represented at SXSW and knowledgeable about providing high-quality, customized credential solutions for a spectrum of organizations and individuals. As a specialist in this field, you will be responsible for generating sales through effective outreach and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets for event credentials, including passes, badges, wristbands, and other related products.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to identify new and existing clients for outreach.
• Understand client needs and requirements to effectively propose tailored credential solutions that enhance attendee experience.
• Conceive creative opportunities to grow SXSW group sales and collaborate with other SXSW team members to target and convert relevant prospects.
• Negotiate contracts and close agreements, ensuring clients' satisfaction and compliance with their specifications.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory issues related to event credentials.
• Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and networking events to promote our products and gather insights.
• Manage and maintain sales pipeline reports and customer databases to track sales activities and client communication.
• Provide excellent customer service and support to ensure a positive reputation within the industry and repeat business.
• Leverage existing knowledge and professional connections within local, regional, and national communities, user groups, and companies to identify and engage potential badge-buying candidates.
• Utilize established relationships to connect with key stakeholders across industries and user groups, driving immediate business opportunities and engagement.
• Proactively reach out to and build rapport with decision-makers and influencers within relevant organizations to expand market presence and meet sales targets.
On-Site Responsibilities
• Meet with clients to gather feedback on their event activities
• Availability to answer questions from colleagues, clients, and related production entities
• Availability to assist colleagues with exigent situations
• Meet with potential partners to discuss future marketing opportunities
• Additional support or responsibilities as directed by the manager
Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications include:
• Proven experience in sales, particularly within the entertainment or event management industries.
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of industries represented at SXSW
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence decision-makers.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines
Work Location & Schedule
The position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10 am – 6 pm. Must be available to work additional hours from January – March, including evenings and weekends.
