POSITION OVERVIEW
The Festival Manager, Print and Digital Publishing, is charged with leading the production of Festival print and digital publications, including overseeing the Festival publications team and directly overseeing interdepartmental collaboration and deadlines. This position will have two direct reports to assist in editing and creating publications.
Working closely under the Associate Editorial Director, the Festival Manager, Print and Digital Publications supports Sundance Institute's commitment to reach and welcome new audiences to join us in celebrating independent storytelling at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
This temporary position works full-time from September 13, 2023, through Friday, January 19, 2024, and will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet key deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned. This is a fully remote position that does not require any onsite work duties.
Top priorities include but are not limited to…
• Overseeing the production of the digital Festival program guide, the printed Festival catalog, the press and industry guide, and additional print or digital publications as needed.
• Managing staff, including providing training, direction, feedback, mentorship, and support to ensure employees understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles.
• Leading publication interdepartmental meetings, managing production calendars and timelines, and all approvals internally and externally.
• Reviewing estimates and invoices for accuracy, obtaining approvals, and submitting them to the Marketing Budget Manager for timely payment.
• Overseeing and advising on edits to print and digital publications.
• Assisting in inputting edits using InDesign.
• Preparing and delivering files, attending press checks when possible with the Salt Lake City–based print vendor.
• Completing a comprehensive wrap report as well as conducting wrap meetings for managed staff.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 3 years of experience managing print and digital publication logistics or related.
• Leadership skills with a background that includes managing people.
• Proficient in Adobe InDesign.
• Knowledge of print production methods.
• Strong conceptual, typography, and visual communication skills.
• Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
