Post Production Supervisor Directors Lab - Careers At Sundance Institute
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Post Production Supervisor, Directors Lab is charged with overseeing and directing the post production operations for projects at the Sundance Institute's Director's Lab.
Working closely under the Director, Technical Exhibition and Production and the Deputy Director, Feature Film Program, the Post Production Supervisor, Directors Lab supports Sundance Institute's commitment to championing the creation of unique work by individual storytellers.
This temporary position works from Wednesday, April 16, 2025 through Tuesday, June 17, 2025. This role will work a remote, variable hour schedule until Monday, April 28, 2025, when hours will increase to a full time schedule through the end of employment. The position will work full time out of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado from Thursday, May 29, 2025 through Monday, June 16, 2025. Sundance Institute will provide travel, meals, and accommodations in a shared home when the position is based out of the Stanley. Extended hours, including late nights, early mornings, and weekends will be required without any full days off once physically working onsite.
Top priorities include but are not limited to?
• Conducting a pre-lab orientation with Editors and Assistant Editors.
• Managing editorial flow and assigned budgets across processes.
• Updating, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with metadata standards.
• Codifying and disseminating best practices and policies, and enforcing compliance.
• Managing assistant editors, setting and maintaining schedules to ensure flow of services.
• Developing and facilitating comprehensive training to ensure post production crew is properly prepared for roles and understand expectations, etc.
• Conducting testing of all post production systems and projects prior to the lab to ensure functionality.
• Reviewing previous lab post production workflows to refine, streamline, and improve efficiency.
• Ensuring clear information and open communication at all times with all constituents.
• Managing the media library, including archiving and saving correctly to servers, sending copies to Institute offices.
• Managing inventory of equipment in lab storage and purchasing equipment as necessary.
• Managing volunteers, including selecting and training volunteers, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure volunteers understand responsibilities and are effective in their roles, and delegating appropriate work.
• Supporting attending artists in all their post production needs as necessary, ensuring they have proper materials, preparing DVD/hard drives, responding to issues or change requests promptly, etc.
• Ensuring Institute owned and loaner equipment is properly inventoried, checked for damages, returned appropriately (includes tracking) or stored properly.
• Representing the organization when interacting and hosting sponsors, donors, vendors, etc.
• Attending and participating in all meetings, daily production, wrap, etc.
• Writing a comprehensive wrap report as instructed.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 4 years experience in film or tv post production.
• 2 years experience managing employees, freelancers, or volunteers and necessary leadership skills to do so effectively.
• Ability to design, test, and implement media technology workflow.
• Working knowledge of digital editing equipment.
• Proficient with PC and Mac operation, networking, and hardware.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully with all levels of staff and a diverse group of personalities.
• Ability to manage expectations of others with excellent conflict resolution skills.
• Able to lift, carry and push items up to 50 lbs.

This position will be paid an hourly rate of $26.74 while working part time and will switch to a weekly rate of $1,069.62 once it becomes full time. It also comes with awesome benefits & perks, including:
